Star Trek Beyond has largely exited theatres domestically and now heads to home video release, first debuting on digital downloads (iTunes/VUDU/etc.) tomorrow (Oct. 4) and on disc in a few more weeks (Nov. 1). In our estimation, the film underperformed at the box office globally to the point where it looks to be unprofitable for Paramount Pictures, at least for now. This article examines the near-final numbers for Beyond, seeks to answer the question why this happened, and analyzes what this could mean for the future of the Kelvin Timeline on the big screen.

We see Kirk feel the loneliness of being at the top, and Scotty has a dinner date with a familiar name from Season 3 of TOS. Click on for the video.

This article seeks to examine why the film, seemingly so enjoyed by millions, did not do better at the box office.

Star Trek Beyond has been out for over a week, so now it’s time to talk about all the cool little winks, nods, and less than obvious “Easter eggs” in the film. There were many really great homages to past Trek in Beyond. For great coverage of the homages, we highly recommend friend of TrekMovie Laurie Ulster’s post on Screen Rant, she did a great job. Our version then, will focus on smaller and less obvious or more real-world (rather than in-universe) nods, cameos, etc.
