Simon Pegg: Star Trek Beyond Won’t Be A Rehash of Trek’s “Greatest Hits”

Simon Pegg spoke to reporters at CinemaCon Monday night about the tone of Star Trek Beyond, how it will create its own stories and canon while still fitting into the franchise’s 50 year history, and how the story’s villain, played by Idris Elba, will be ostentatious and interesting. Pegg also noted that Beyond won’t be a rehash of Star Trek’s “greatest hits” moments but will instead focus on original story telling.

Video and Photos of Second Unit Shooting for Star Trek Beyond in Dubai

It’s official: filming has begun in Dubai for Star Trek Beyond, and there are some (rather unrevealing) photos of a helicopter shoot floating around the web. Don’t get too excited; this is reportedly a second unit shoot, meaning the actors wouldn’t have been present, and there are no interesting sets, costumes, or anything really to see. These photos and video are of so little substance, we can’t even see a reason to throw a spoiler tag on this one.
