Moonves Commits To Extend CBS/Netflix Streaming Deal + Says ‘Good To Have Star Trek’

Back when Star Trek: Enterprise was cancelled seven years ago there was much discussion and speculation that the franchise had lost support at the corporate level of CBS/Paramount, especially with CBS CEO Les Moonves. But now the man who runs the company that owns Star Trek is singing a different tune, telling investors that the franchise is working "exceedingly well" as part of the CBS portfolio for online streaming. CBS Offering Free Replacement Blu-ray Discs To Fix Star Trek: TNG Surround Sound Problem

Since the release of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-ray last week there have been a number of fan complaints about audio issues related to the surround sound track on some of the episodes. IMAX & Paramount Officially Announce Star Trek Sequel To Be Released In IMAX 3D

Star Trek is once again headed to IMAX, but this time in 3D. CONFIRMED: Star Trek Sequel Panel ‘Unlikely’ For Comic-Con 2012

A bit of breaking news for Tuesday afternoon. Hopes were that JJ Abrams and Paramount would be showing something from the Star Trek sequel at San Diego Comic Con next month, however a new report (and a confirmation from TrekMovie sources) indicates that there won’t be a Trek sequel panel at SDCC 2012. First Stone Laid For Paramount Park In Spain – New Images & Videos Of Star Trek Attractions

Last year we reported that there was a plan to build a new Paramount theme park in Murcia, Spain which would include attractions based on Star Trek. Star Trek TNG HD Screenings Theater List Announced + Amazon Lowers Blu-ray Pre-Order Price

Last month we reported that there will be a special theater screenings of Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes in HD on July 23rd (promoting the release of the Season 1 Blu-ray on July 24th). In 1998 Star Trek: The Experience opened at the Las Vegas Hilton, but did you know it was actually the "Plan B" after a much more ambitious vision was considered in 1992. Video and Pix Of Paramount Rose Parade Float With USS Enterprise

As reported earlier, Paramount Pictures had their first float today as part of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. Celebrating their centennial, the studio’s float featured some icons from Paramount films, including the USS Enterprise soaring over the Paramount mountain and gate. Orci & Kurtzman Sell Political Conspiracy & Western Pilots + Abrams Adds Another Movie Project

The last week brings more business deal news from the team behind the last and next Star Trek movie. Writer/producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have sold a couple more pilots for the next seasons, and JJ Abrams has added another film to his future schedule (after the Star Trek sequel).




Star Trek Loves Lucy

Today, Saturday August 6th, marks what would have been Lucille Ball’s 100th birthday. While best known as the star of the groundbreaking sitcom I Love Lucy, Lucile Ball was also instrumental in getting Star Trek off the ground. If Gene Roddenberry is the father of Star Trek, then Ball is sort of Trek’s godmother.


Streaming Deals (& Star Trek) Help Boost CBS Profits

As previously reported, during 2011, CBS has been cutting new streaming video deals with Netflix and Amazon, which include Star Trek content. Not only has this been a boon for Trek fans, but it appears to be a big money maker for CBS. This week the company reported their second quarter profits, which were up significantly and much of the gains were attributed to their new streaming video deals.




Paramount Officially Delays Star Trek Sequel – GI Joe Takes 6/29/12 Spot & No New Trek Date Yet

Well Paramount has made official what we all knew was coming. The Star Trek sequel has been officially delayed and will not be released on June 29, 2012. Paramount has now put their second G.I. Report: Paramount Already Working Around Star Trek Sequel Delay

More indications are emerging that the Star Trek sequel officially slated for June 29, 2012 is not going to make its date. While we await an announcement on how JJ Abrams and Paramount will proceed with their next Trek, there are indications a delay decision has already been made based on activity surrounding other Paramount Summer 2012 movies.
