Report: Paramount Already Working Around Star Trek Sequel Delay

More indications are emerging that the Star Trek sequel officially slated for June 29, 2012 is not going to make its date. While we await an announcement on how JJ Abrams and Paramount will proceed with their next Trek, there are indications a delay decision has already been made based on activity surrounding other Paramount Summer 2012 movies.



Paramount Promotes “Star Trek 2” At Licensing Expo – But Just Working Title

As we reported recently Paramount and CBS are in New York this week at the Licensing Expo to cut deals on their various properties, including the upcoming Star Trek sequel. A new promotional image for Paramount is being shown at the Licensing Expo which touts "Star Trek 2," but that doesn’t mean Paramount has already settled on the name.

Paramount Theme Park With Star Trek Attraction Planned For 2015 Open In Spain – Financing Being Worked Out

New reports coming out of Europe are talking about a new Paramount Pictures theme park coming to Spain in 2015, including a high-tech Star Trek-themed attraction. TrekMovie has confirmed that the project is in development, but that financing is details are still being worked out. More below.


Paramount Moves Production Of Jack Ryan Reboot To After Star Trek Sequel

According to a new report, Paramount Pictures has shuffled their production schedule and moved the shoot for their planned Jack Ryan reboot (starring Chris Pine) into 2012. The studio hoped they could film Moscow before the Star Trek sequel, but script problems for the Jack Ryan film have forced them to swap the order around. So far it looks like the Trek sequel is still on track to shoot later this year.

An old Paramount Memo, which was actually released a few years ago, has been getting a lot of play on the Internet in the last day. The Memo is about possible actors who were being brought in to audition for roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and it includes some interesting names for those who almost became the stars of the show.



Saldana, Orci, Kurtzman & More Star Trek Crew Invited To Join Motion Picture Academy

Earlier this year the 2009 Star Trek movie became the first in the franchise to win an Academy Award. And now seven of the people who worked on the film have been invited to join the ranks of those who vote on the Oscars. Today the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their 2010 invitees and on the list were seven members of the Star Trek team, including Zoe Saldana, Roberto Orci, and Alex Kurtzman.


Avatar Dominates Saturn Awards: Star Trek Wins For Make-Up + Nimoy Wins For Fringe

Tonight The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films held their 36th Annual Saturn Awards. The 2009  Star Trek movie went into the night with 6 nominations, but it was Avatar that dominated, picking up ten awards. Star Trek picked up one Saturn, as did including Leonard Nimoy (for Fringe). Star Trek writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman also picked up a special award.




Star Trek Cable TV Premiere on EPIX HD June 6th + Exclusive Video Extras Available Online Now

On June 6th the 2009 Star Trek movie will have its exclusive cable TV premiere on the EPIX channel. In addition to watching on their TVs, subscribers can also watch Star Trek (and other EPIX movies) online. EPIX also has a web page with lots of exclusive Star Trek videos. District 9 Beats Star Trek For Nebula Award + Round-up Of Upcoming Sci-Fi Awards

Last night at an event in Cocoa Beach Florida the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America announced the Nebula Award Winners for 2009. Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman were nominated for their work on Star Trek, but lost out to the writers for District 9. Since late 2007 www.startrek.com, the official site for the Star Trek franchise, has been mostly dormant. But that is about to change. Star Trek Wins Best Sci-Fi Film At Empire Awards + Saldana Wins Best Actress For Avatar [UPDATED w/ video]

Tonight the Jameson Empire Film Awards were held in London. Star Trek went in to the event nominated for three awards and walked away the winner of Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film. Simon Pegg, Star Trek’s new Scotty, was on hand to accept the award. Zoe Saldana also won Best Actress for Avatar and TNG’s Patrick Stewart was on hand to present an award. Details and photos below.
