On Sunday night Star Trek producer/director JJ Abrams once again appeared in a skit on the MTV Movie Awards. This time it was a gag about archery being the big new thing in Hollywood, but what some alert Trekkies noticed what appeared on the monitor behind JJ, who is supposed to be busy on post-production for the Star Trek sequel. First Stone Laid For Paramount Park In Spain – New Images & Videos Of Star Trek Attractions

Last year we reported that there was a plan to build a new Paramount theme park in Murcia, Spain which would include attractions based on Star Trek. Simon Pegg: Reports About Cumberbatch’s Star Trek Sequel Character ‘A Myth’

Simon Pegg’s new movie A Fantastic Fear of Everything opens next week and while out promoting it, he is talking Star Trek. More specifically he is debunking (and denouncing) spoiler reports about Benedict Cumberbatch’s character in the Star Trek sequel. Leonard Nimoy: Star Trek: TMP Left Franchise As ‘Beached Whale’ + He Is ‘Played Out’ As Spock

A couple of weeks ago we posted the first part of an LA Times video interview with Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy. The second part has just been posted online and you watch it below, where Nimoy talks about the link between Star Wars and Star Trek and even does does his impersonation of William Shatner! Most interesting, Nimoy critiques Star Trek: The Motion Picture, saying he doesn’t think of it as a Star Trek movie. He also says that he is "played out" with Spock.


Zoe Saldana On Maxim Hot 100 List (Again)

Another member of the Star Trek cast is being honored for their body of work. This time it is the new Uhura who has (once again) made it on to the Maxim Hot 100 list. JJ Abrams Put Uncharted’s North Into Star Trek Sequel + Tried To Get Chess Master Carlsen

Star Trek producer/director may a big Hollywood mogul, but he is still a nerd at heart. Case in point comes from two reports (confirmed by TrekMovie) on people he personally reached out to for roles in the Trek sequel. Abrams successfully got Nolan North (voice of the hero in the "Uncharted" games) into the film and tried (but visas couldn’t be worked out in time) to get Norwegian chess grand master Magnus Carlsen too.



FedCon Sat: Frakes Reveals Star Trek Sequel Set Visit + Shatner On JJ Not Hiring Him + McFadden Hopes For ‘Big Bang’

On Saturday, the third day of this year’s FedCon, Jonathan Frakes revealed he had been on the set of the new Star Trek movie, William Shatner filled not one but two rooms and talked about JJ Abrams not hiring him, while Gates McFadden told the audience about her heroes and said she hoped to join Wil Wheaon on Big Bang Theory. Simon Pegg To Start Shooting ‘The World’s End’ This Fall – Finishing ‘Cornetto Trilogy’

Yesterday Simon Pegg wrapped up his work on the Star Trek sequel and he already at work on his next project, shooting a guest spot on a TV pilot. And it was just announced that filming on highly-anticipated third entry of his "Cornetto Trilogy" collaboration with Edgar Wright and Nick Frost will start in September. Watch: Sizzle Reel For Kurtzman’s ‘People Like Us’ – Starring Chris Pine

Star Trek co-writer/producer Alex Kurtzman’s directorial debut People Like Us hits theaters next month. Starring Elizabeth Banks and Star Trek’s Chris Pine, the family drama was co-written by Trek’s Bob Orci. A new "sizzle reel" has been released with scenes along with Kurtzman and Pine talking about the film. Watch it below.





Send Captains Kirk and Picard to Space

Meet Logan Kugler, a space enthusiast/trekkie with one simple goal: to send Captains Picard and Kirk into near-space — well, their action figures at least! Kugler has started a now fully funded (but still taking pledges for the next 24-hours) Kickstarter project to finance a high-altitude balloon that will send action figures of Captains Kirk and Picard along with their respective starship models (and a few of their friends) to a height of 120,000 feet along with cameras to capture the entire event. They are even selling the Kirk action figure and the model of the USS Enterprise that he flies to space on for the next 24-hours on their Kickstarter page!




PrometheusWatch: New Viral Video Promotes David The Robot + Russian Trailer Reveals More Footage

Without a Star Trek movie, TrekMovie has adopted Prometheus as our most anticipated film for the summer. Written by Trek sequel co-writer Damon Lindelof, the film looks to be a cool addition to the Alien universe. And today they released another cool viral video for the film showing off a Weyland robot. Plus there is a new Russian trailer that reveals more cool visuals (and dialog if you speak Russian). Check it out below. 


July Star Trek Comics To Feature TOS/TNG/Who Crossover + New Tribble Story For Ongoing Movie Series

IDW has announced solicitations for all of their July comics and the two Trek comics are pretty exciting. First up the second issue of the Doctor Who/TNG crossover hints at a TOS/Classic Doctor flashback. And the ongoing Star Trek movie universe comics will feature another brand new story featuring tribbles. Details below, plus covers.
