For Day Three of TrekMovie’s Thanksgiving Weekend Star Trek Mashup Marathon, we pick up on a theme for an article from April 2008 and look at more alternative opening title sequences for the Star Trek shows. We have one for each show, with a different spin.
As promised the Star Trek Phase II team is making up for the long wait for "Blood and Fire, Part 2" by releasing the first six minutes of their next episode "Enemy: Starfleet", which gives you the teaser, opening credits and some of Act 1. The preview lets you get a look at Phase II’s new Spock, Brandon Stacy, who was Zachary Quinto’s double for JJ Abrams Star Trek.
It has been a long eleven month wait, but part two of Star Trek Phase II’s "Blood and Fire" has finally been released online. Last weekend we reported on an interesting new animation on YouTube called "Klingon Propaganda" which led to a ‘Klingon website’. There have been subsequent videos this week adding to the mystery which has been the subject to much speculation on this site and many others. Now the man behind the video has come forward and explained to TrekMovie what it is all about.
The fan production Star Trek Phase II is gearing up for a big November. After long last, part 2 of "Blood and Fire" will be released on November 20th, and to make up for the long wait, the first act of their next episode "Enemy: Starfleet" will be released the same day. Following yesterday’s "indoctrination" video, there is what appears to be another entry in the viral campaign started last weekend by the "Klingon Propaganda" video. This time it is a very short piece of Federation propaganda responding to the Klingons, promoting the message of diversity.
On Sunday TrekMovie first reported on a new viral video titled "Klingon Propaganda" which contained clues leading to a Klingon website. The mysterious video has been sweeping around web since, and today there is a new video live-action video from the same source which shows the Klingon plot may be even more insidious. We have that below, plus a translation and more details on the first video.
The Klingons were created in the 60s to be the Star Trek stand-ins for the Cold War ‘Red Menace’. This week an impressive new video was uploaded to YouTube titled ‘Klingon Propaganda’, which runs with the notion by creating a motivational cartoon from the Klingon perspective in the style of 20th century Communist Propaganda. And it is so well-made, it raises the question as to whether or not it is ‘Fan Made’ or something more.
Last weekend two lucky Star Trek fans got to have their wedding in the Final Frontier. Brad Siegel and Kate Erwin, winners of a contest held by the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, got married on Sunday on a replica of the USS Enterprise D bridge at Star Trek The Exhibition. The couple has sent TrekMovie a special video telling their story from a proposal at a convention to the wedding itself.
The world of fan made Star Trek has been busy in the last few days. Today the Starship Farragut Animated Episode "Power Source" was completed. Also there is a new episode for Star Trek Odyssey. We also have an update and some previews for what is next from Star Trek Phase II.
Sometimes it seems YouTube was invented just for Star Trek fans to publish creative mash-ups. The new Star Trek movie has inspired a few, with a number of them focusing on how the crews of the ‘prime timeline’ might react to the events of the new movie. Starship Farragut, a TOS era fan production, has set a fan film milestone, by being the first to produce both live action and animated episodes. GoAnimate.com, the site that allows you to create and share animations, has just announced the winners of its most recent Star Trek contest, "THE BACKSTORY". This contest was to honor the addition of three new TOS characters to the GoAnimate platform – Nurse Chapel, a Gorn, and Mara – and also, to honor the backstory theme of the latest Trek film. GoAnimate.com, the site that lets you make your own animations, today announced that it has expanded its roster of official Star Trek characters to include Nurse Chapel, Gorn, Mara, and two Klingon crewmen. To celebrate the five new characters, they have also launched a new animation contest for fans to create the best ‘backstory’. Details below.
Over the last week or so many people have sent in links to new YouTube vblogs, skits and more about Star Trek that they made or just liked. So poking around YouTube it seems the new Star Trek movie has inspired dozens of self-made broadcasters. There are way too many so below we offer just a sampling to show how the new Star Trek is all the rage on the interwebs.

We are all looking forward to the new Star Trek movie headed our way in a couple of months. However ‘Star Trek Torch,’ an amazing new video from our old pal Spockboy Paul, reminds us all of where it it all came from. It looks like James Cawley, the man behind the most popular independent Star Trek production Star Trek Phase II, is going to be taking on another sci-fi classic. Today Cawley Entertainment announced it has secured the rights to create a web series based on the classic comic Buck Rogers. TrekMovie has the exclusive first details.
