Austin, TX Fans Get Surprise Showing of Star Trek Movie [UPDATE 2: First Reviews In]

Tonight Paramount pulled off one of the coolest stunts in fan history. Promoted as just a 10 minute preview of the new Star Trek to show along with The Wrath of Khan, tonight fans in Austin, TX were actually shown the entire new Star Trek movie. The event included surprise guests, including the original Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy. [UPDATE: A number of reviews are already in – we have a summary of those below]


Get Your Questions Asked At Star Trek World Premiere In Sydney – See The Answers Here On Tuesday

On Tuesday April 7th the new Star Trek movie will have its global gala premiere at the world-famous Opera House in Sydney, Australia. The event will be attended by director JJ Abrams and many of his stars, and Paramount International is offering fans (and specifically TrekMovie community members) the opportunity to ask questions of the Trek celebrities. "Star Trek: Countdown" is the official prequel comic for the new Star Trek movie, with two issues of the four issue series released so far. Wondercon 09: Our Star Trek Panel Kicks Things Off

Wondercon 2009 began yesterday in San Franciso and one of the first events was the “The Once & Future Trek!” panel, which is a sort of regular feature of Comic Con with various ‘Treksperts’. This time the panel turned out to just be just Daren Dochterman and myself, but that ended up to work out as it became an interesting Star Trek film focused Q&A with info-starved Trekkies.


CBS Confirms Contract To Re-open ST: The Experience in May + New ST:TE Documentary

TrekMovie has been reporting that Star Trek The Experience, which closed last year at the Las Vegas Hilton, is headed todowntown Las Vegas and today CBS finally confirmed the move. They are not providing many more details, but TrekMovie has done a little digging to find out what is going on with the rebirth of this Trek attraction.  Plus there is an interesting new documentary online, all about the history of ST: The Experience.


Preview of 25th Summer TrekFest – TOS Stars (and TrekMovie) Headed To Riverside, Iowa

In Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, James T. Kirk tells Gillian Tayler "I’m from Iowa. I only work in outer space", which started in motion an annual tradition in the real town of Riverside, Iowa: Trek Fest. Star Trek The Exhibition Beams Into Detroit This Weekend

On February 14th the first ‘engagement’ of Star Trek The Exhibition, makes its Midwest debut at the Detroit Science Center. The Exhibition features genuine Trek memorabilia along with recreations and motion simulator rides. Paramount To Show Star Trek ‘Sneak Peek’ At WonderCon

They skipped San Diego Comic Con last summer and New York Comic Con last week, but Paramount is bringing a Star Trek panel to WonderCon in San Francisco in just over two weeks. Today the full schedule for WonderCon was announced and included is a ‘sneak peek’ and a ‘special guest’ from the new Star Trek movie. There are other Trek related panels as well, including one with yours truly. 


Star Trek The Experience To Re-open in May? (Maybe)

Star Trek The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton closed its gates for final time last September, but soon after TrekMovie and the Las Vegas press reported that talks were under way to find a new home in downtown Las Vegas at the Neonopolis center. Now the manager of Neonopolis is talking about opening up in time for the new Star Trek movie in May, TrekMovie has done some double checking to see how doable that is.


Star Trek Guide To NY Comic Con 2009

Today is day one for New York Comic Con. Although not as massive as the Summer Comic Con in San Diego, this is still a big event. Attending the event are a number of Star Trek licensees who have booths as well as some Star Trek related panels. Also in attendance will be Marina Sirtis and a few other Trek celebs. Star Trek The Exhibition Opens In Phoenix – Full Report w/ Pictures & Video

Today, Star Trek: The Exhibition opened its second engagement in the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix, Arizona to plenty of eager fans. More Details Emerge For New Home Of Star Trek The Experience

Last month we reported that Star Trek The Experience (which closed its doors at the Las Vegas Hilton in September) may be resurrected at a new location. Since that time TrekMovie as well as local Las Vegas journalists have confirmed that Star Trek The Experience is moving to a new home at Neonopolis, in downtown Las Vegas.  Today some new details have emerged.


Second ‘Engagement’ Of Star Trek The Exhibition Opens In Phoenix In November

Over the summer Star Trek The Tour (which opened and closed in Long Beach in the Spring), was re-born as Star Trek The Exhibition with the first stop opened in San Diego in June. At the time we reported that there would actually be two concurrent exhibitions going and now the second one has been announced, kicking off in Phoenix, Arizona in November.
