Attn Trekkies: Documentary Looking For L.A. Fans + Photo Journalist Looking For FL Fans

TrekMovie is helping out some people who are looking to find Trek fans who are ready for their close-up. First up, a UK documentary is coming to coming to Los Angeles and the producers want some Trekkies to help them as they get the cast of TOS together. Plus a photo-journalist in Jacksonville Florida wants meet some Trekkies in their natural habitat.



Dragon Con Has Impressive TrekTrak For Labor Day Weekend 2008

The Annual fan run Dragon Con event in Atlanta, Georgia is considered on of the most fun con experiences. Each year it has a dedicated ‘Trek Trak’ full of celebrity panels, discussions, as well as some fun Trek-themed events. Watch ‘Star Trek Online Revealed’ with Leonard Nimoy [UPDATED]

At1:30 PM (Pacific) Cryptic Studios held their ‘Star Trek Online Revealed’ event at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention. Leonard Nimoy helped them unveil this exciting new massive multiplayer Star Trek game. The presentation lived up to its name and revealed much about the new game, we have video, details and new screenshots below.


VegasCon 08: New Star Trek Movie Posters With Four New Cast Images [Hi Res UPDATE]

Just like they did last year, Paramount has chosen Creation’s official Star Trek convention to give fans a new poster for JJ Abrams’ Star Trek. Actually they are giving fans eight posters; the four that were given out at Comic Con and four new ones in the same style but with the rest of the main crew from the film. First Details Emerge On New Star Trek Online + New In Game Images

Tomorrow Cryptic Studios holds their "Star Trek Online Revealed" panel at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention (with a little help from Leonard Nimoy), but some details of this new MMORPG have already emerged. Cryptic’s Chief Creative Officer gave a pre-show interview to the AP that provided some details, plus CBS showed a few new screenshots at their Products presentation on Friday.


VegasCon 08: New Official Star Trek Fan Club Announced

Today at the official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, CBS announced that a new official Star Trek fan club will be launched by the end of the year. Details are sketchy for now, but CBS promised more details to come next month and have launched a new website to gather fan input on this new venture. In related news, Dan Madsen, who ran the previous fan club, is involved in a new fan venture that is partnering with Roddenberry.com


VegasCon 08: Thursday Report with Sirtis & Spiner, Roddenberry, Lee Whitney, Forbes + more

Thursday at Creation's official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas had a good mix of series regulars like TNG's Brent Spiner and Marina Sirts, to fan favorite guest stars like Grace Lee Whitney, Michelle Forbes and Majel Roddenberry. VegasCon 08: deLancie, Curtis, Crosby & More Guest Stars Kick Off The Con

The official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas kicked off Wednesday with a gaggle of guest stars spanning the Trek series, including John deLancie, Robin Curtis and Denise Crosby. They all delighted mostly filled main auditorium with insights, jokes, and at times some serious discussions about their times on Star Trek.

Comic Con 08: Abrams Team Talk Trek At Fringe Panel

4 out of 5 of the ‘Supreme Court’ behind the Star Trek movie hit the stage tonight at Comic Con, but they were there to promote their mysterious new show for Fox, Fringe. However, Star Trek could not be denied and it came up a few times during the panel discussion, with updates and post-production, thoughts on George Takei and who is the best villain Khan or the Borg. Comic Con 08: Preview Of Mattel’s Star Trek SceneIt? Trivia Game

Mattel’s Star Trek Sceneit? game was first revealed at the New York Toy Fair in February, but at Comic Con 2008 we get the first good look at the game. Mattel was showing off new packaging,  the board and a clip from the game. TrekMovie has those plus more details below. Comic Con 08: Diamond Select and Hallmark Reveal New Trek Items

Two more Star Trek’s licensees are revealing new items at Comic Con 2008. Diamond Select Toys have a Star Trek III two-pack depicting Kruge and Maltz (and more). And Hallmark is showing off a prototype for one of their 2009 Keepsake Ornaments, depicting a scene from "The Menagerie." Pictures and more details below. 


Comic Con 08: Chris Pine Talks Quantum Quest, Star Trek and Shatner

Quantum Quest, a new animated 3D film that blends science and science and science fiction, sports an voice cast including a number of Trek stars such as Bob Picardo, Brent Spiner and both Kirks, Chris Pine and William Shatner. At a panel at Comic Con on Thursday, Pine ‘appeared’ in a taped video to talk about the film, and he also talked about the new Star Trek movie…and Shatner!


Comic Con 08: Mattel Reveals New Star Trek R/C Toys & Sparks A Movie Rumor

It was just in June that CBS announced their new Star Trek licensing deal with Mattel, the world’s largest toy company, and we have already seen the beginnings of the 20Q product and this week at Comic Con Mattel are showing off prototypes of their very cool line of Tyco RC Flyer toys, which apparently have started new some new rumors, which we will debunk.


Comic Con 08: Star Trek Takes Half Of Paramount’s Booth + Possible New Image?

TrekMovie has been reporting that the new Star Trek movie will have a ‘presence’ at the Paramount booth at the 2008 Comic Con taking place in San Diego. The con opened to day, revealing the presence takes up half the booth. The ‘under construction’ theme is in full force with girls handing out construction jobs and new promotional items tied into the new Star Trek movie. Plus there is a new Star Trek-related website (with a possible new image).

JumpCon Series In Serious Doubt – Celebrity Guests Not Planning To Attend [UPDATE: Event Cancelled]

It appears that JumpCon is headed for the same kind of meltdown as FedCon USA, but on an even larger scale. JumpCon promoted itself as a new kind of experience with a line up of over a hundred Sci-Fi stars (including many Trek celebrities) to appear at over a dozen different cities during  the Summer and Fall. However, TrekMovie has learned their first stop (in Boston) this weekend may be cancelled and that future JumpCons are also in serious doubt.


Still No Plans For Paramount Trek Comic Con Panel

In the 10 days since Paramount announced they would not be doing any movie panels (including for Star Trek) at Comic-Con, the world of fandom has been going through the various stages of grief, and apparently some are still in the denial phase. Some websites are even questioning TrekMovie’s recent update on Comic Con. And G4 TV is running a new Comic Con Preview Show which is fueling the conspiracy theories.

News of the September closing of Star Trek: The Experience (and Quark’s Bar and Grill) at the Las Vegas Hilton is sad news for fans who enjoy mixing the reel of Star Trek with the real of restaurants. Quark’s, with its Trek name and themed food, was the biggest Star Trek restaurant ever, but there have been others. Star Trek The Experience Closure Follow-up + CBS Hints At A Future

Star Trek The Experience Closing In September [UPDATED]

In May TrekMovie first reported that the future of the Star Trek The Experience at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas was in doubt after its contract ended in December. Recently we reported that talks were continuing to the end of this month, but apparently a decision has been made in the last couple of days and the contract will not be renewed. After over 10 years in operation, The Experience will close its doors in early September.


Nichelle Nichols Almost Had ‘Star Trek’ Cameo?

According Nichelle Nichols, the original Uhura, there was talk about her getting a cameo role in the new Star Trek movie. Nichols, who has previously spoken enthusiastically about visiting the movie set and meeting both the new Uhura (Zoe Saldana) and director JJ Abrams, made this new revaluation Saturday at the Supernova Pop Culture Expo in Perth Australia.

John Billingsley – Hero of FedCon USA

Since TrekMovie first reported the abrupt demise of FedCon USA last weekend, there has been much debated and discussed during the postmortem. Although the failure of FedCon USA unfortunate, it is worth highlighting how the actors who showed up, especially Star Trek Enterprise’s John Billingsley (along with his wife Bonita), went above and beyond to make the best of a bad situation.
