VIDEO: Jimmy Kimmel’s “Yehya Show” Visits Star Trek DVD Party

Over the last week we have been putting up videos from our interviews from the Star Trek DVD party. The Jimmy Kimmel show also sent their friend Yehya to cover the event, and last week they ran a 6 minute segment with interview snippets with Bruce Greenwood, Jacob Kogan, Leonard Nimoy, JJ Abrams, John Cho, and Zach Quinto. For the sequel to Star Trek, the writing team of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman will be augmented by producer Damon Lindelof. At the Star Trek DVD/Blu-ray launch party TrekMovie talked to Orci and Lindelof about the next Trek, getting a status update, thoughts on their approach and what research they are doing. IDW Launches New Star Trek Comics App For iPhone/iTouch + Star Trek Movie on iTunes

This week iTunes has some new Star Trek items. First off, the new Star Trek movie is available to download (in HD) and it even has a special bonus feature. Also IDW Comics has released a new Star Trek Comics application that lets you buy and read digital comics on your iPhone or iTouch .

Paramount has released a couple more clips from the upcoming home video release of JJ Abrams Star Trek movie. The first shows part of the Simon Pegg portion of the "Casting" featurette, and the second is a montage of various behind the scene clips from home video release. Both the 2-disk DVD and 3-disk Blu-ray sets for the Star Trek movie (coming out next week) are chock full of special features. More Details On Alternative Version of ‘Where No Man Has Gone Before’ In TOS Season 3 Blu-ray Set

2009 has been the one of the best years ever for Star Trek on home video, with the next release being the the 2009 Star Trek movie on Blu-ray and DVD next week. However, the final release of the year will be Star Trek The Original Series on Blu-ray, coming December 15th. Today we have more details on the unaired version of the "Where No Man Has Gone Before" pilot, which is a key special feature of the set.

North Amercia is getting excited about the arrival of Star Trek on DVD and Blu-ray November 17th. The readers of EngadgetHD just voted it the most anticipated Holiday season arrival. Star Trek Movie Deleted Klingon Scene Available Online + DVD/Blu-ray Debuts In Some Countries

Ready for more Klingons? Tonight during the Scream 2009 awards, Spike TV debuted one of the DVD/Blu-ray deleted scenes from the 2009 Star Trek movie. The scene shows Nero being interrogated by the Klingons while at Rura Penthe prison, and it is now online, check it out below. Plus we have some news on special Star Trek movie releases overseas.



Reviews: Gene Roddenberry’s ‘Genesis II’ & ‘Planet Earth’

In the 1970s, between the end of Star Trek The Original series and the first Star Trek feature film, Gene Roddenberry developed a number of sci-fi TV pilots, which aired as TV movies, but never made it to series. Now Warner Brothers has made Genesis II and Planet Earth available via their video-on-demand DVD program. See below for our thorough review of both titles.

Last week Star Trek director JJ Abrams conducted a Q&A at a press event promoting the upcoming Star Trek DVD and Blu-ray releases. First Impressions Of Star Trek Movie Blu-Ray (+ Navigation Screenshots)

This week Paramount held a press event promoting their upcoming releases for the fall, including Q&A’s with Star Trek director JJ Abrams (see report), and writers Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman (see report).
