The world of Star Trek gaming is getting busier lately. Today marks the release of Star Trek DAC on XBox Live Arcade. Plus there have been a lot of updates for Star Trek Online, the upcoming Trek MMORPG, including a new ship, and details on ship customization. All that below in our weekly gaming update.
Shortly after the debut of the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch, TrekMovie reported on the severe lack of Trek applications available. It now appears that our readers headed our call and have, in the past several months, created a multitude of awesome Star Trek applications, including an official app from Paramount, a new game by Electronic Arts, and the Klingon Language Suite. TrekMovie has taken a closer look at these apps, and we’ve reviewed them. So, here it is: the best of Trek on the iPhone (and iTouch).
The new Star Trek movie is not getting a traditional adaptation video game, however Paramount has put together a fun $10 downloadable arcade space-shooter ‘inspired by Star Trek’ called Star Trek D-A-C. They have just released the game trailer which you can see below. The trailer includes some cool ship-on-ship action footage from the Star Trek movie.
Today the back-story for upcoming Star Trek Online MMORPG to a big leap in syncronicity with the Star Trek movie and Countdown comics. We have the latest ‘Path to 2407’ below, along with some new screenshots and more from STO. And that is not the only gaming news, we also have the first gameplay videos from Star Trek D-A-C, the download arcade shooter coming out in May.

In May Paramount is releasing the Star Trek movie themed game Star Trek DAC, and hopefully less than a year later Cryptic comes out with their Star Trek Online MMORPG. Today we have updates on both of these titles.
A couple of weeks ago TrekMovie first showed off a promo sheet we found for something called ‘Star Trek D.A.C.’, which was the first hint there would be some kind of game related to the new Star Trek movie. At the time Paramount was not talking, but now they are. Today during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, TrekMovie got the lowdown on what D.A.C. is all about.
It has been nearly a decade since the last Star Trek board game ("Star Trek: Trivia Game" by Mattel). Now, board games return with Mattel and ScreenLife’s "Scene It? Star Trek Edition." TrekMovie has played this game and has a full review with images and DVD screen caps below.
Cryptic has released five new screenshots (two land and three space based) as well as explaining the idea of Episodic Content within Star Trek Online, the upcoming Trek MMORPG. Also the first pre-orders for STO are now available, which may be the first reveal of a price and release date for the game.
Cryptic have released details on their first Klingon Empire ship for their Star Trek Online MMORPG. The new game takes place in 2409, a few decades after Nemesis, with the the Federation facing off in a war against the Klingon Empire (and allies). Today the have released an image and details on a ‘Raptor Class’ destroyer, check it out below.
Cryptic Studios released another one of their ‘path to 2409’ updates, telling the story between Star Trek Nemesis and the setting for the MMO. Today’s preview of Trek’s Spring Collection brings us to two new games coming from Mattel. Due out in March, Mattel is releasing a Star Trek version of their popular hand-held 20Q trivia game and also a Trek version of the SceneIt? DVD board game.
