Coming up later in July, Cryptic is going to release their first big ‘season’ update to Star Trek Online, with "Season 2: Ancient Enemies". This STO Update is dedicated to S2 with a new, more details, links to interviews, and some more video previews. Plus STO is now on sale for only $15.

Later this week Cryptic is set to release the second season of their MMO Star Trek Online and in a new Q&A the company reveals more about what is coming. But the big news is that STO’s new executive producer has dropped a hint that the game may be moving to a new payment model. Details on all that below.

Last week the big news in the Star Trek Online world was all about executive producer Craig Zinkievich stepping down. This week there is a new video interview with the new executive producer, Daniel Stahl who reassures gamers about the future of STO and also gives some hints as to what is to come. Before the MMORPG Star Trek Online was released on PC, members of the Cryptic team had confirmed the game would eventually also be developed for at least one of the gaming consoles (XBox 360 and/or Playstation 3). However, not it appears that this will not happen, or at least no happen any time soon. STO’s executive producer has now confirmed that a console version is ‘on the back burner.’ 

When you begin playing the MMORPG Star Trek Online you start off with a basic starship, but as you progress through the game you get access to bigger, better and more specialized ships. Atari has just released a series of videos profiling five of these ships, you can check them out below.
