Library Computer: Review “Mirror Universe: Shards & Shadows” Anthology (Pt. 1) + 2010 Books Update

Pocket Books’ successful foray into the Mirror Universe in 2007 paved the way for twelve new stories from Star Trek’s dark side. This edition of the Library Computer looks at five tales from January’s "Shards and Shadows" anthology. We also have an update and news on Pocket Books plans for big Trek mini-series in 2010.


The Collective: DST Star Trek Exclusives Arriving At Toys R Us

2009 is already shaping up to be Star Trek’s return to big retailers, including exclusives. Diamond Select Star Trek toys are now starting to show up at Toys ‘R Us stores across the United States, including a number of new exclusives (in addition to the very cool Khaaaannnn! Admiral Kirk). TrekInk: Cover Art For Final 2 Countdown Comics + Tribbles Alien Spotlight Preview

We are now just weeks away from the release of the first issue of "Star Trek Countdown," the official prequel comics for the upcoming Star Trek movie. STO Update: Check Out The Federation’s Next Big Ship

Cryptic Studios has a Christmas presents today for fans of the upcoming Star Trek Online massive multiplayer game. They have a new feature on their official site, introducing us to the first of the new ships for the game. STO Game Story Progresses With ‘Path to 2409: 2383’

Cryptic have put out the fourth of their their ‘Path to 2409’ summaries which tell the story between the events of Nemesis and the beginning of the massive multiplayer game Star Trek Online. Like the third installment, Cryptic is now charting its own course, going beyond the time of the Star Trek novels towards setting up the galactic war between the Federation and the Klingons.

EXCLUSIVE: Star Trek Online Producer Talks About Atari Acquisition Of Cryptic

Last week it was announced that Cryptic Studios, the company making the new Star Trek Online MMORPG, has been acquired by Atari. Although all indications were that this would only help the development of this big project, TrekMovie checked in with Craig Zinkievich, Executive Producer of Star Trek Online, for an exclusive interview to see how things are going with STO and the new owners.


Abrams: ‘Star Trek’ Is Movie They Couldn’t Afford In Past + New Trek Banner [UPDATE: Hi Res.]

In a new interview with MTV, Star Trek director JJ Abrams says that the final cut of the film should be completed very soon. He also talked about deleted scenes, humor, Majel Roddenberry, and more, including what is different about his star Trek movie. Writers Give More Details On Star Trek Movie Prequel Comics

In January IDW will release the first issue (of 4) of "Star Trek Countdown," a prequel comic book for the new Star Trek movie, based on a story by the film’s co-writers. Today in an interview with CBR, Roberto Orci along with the writers of the comic Tim Jones and Mike Johnson reveal some of the secrets of this new book, including how TrekMovie.com was part of the genesis.



Star Trek Online MMO Maker Cryptic Acquired By Atari

It was announced this morning that Cryptic Studios, the maker of the new Star Trek Online MMO, have been acquired by French game publisher Infogrames, the parent company of Atari. Earlier this year the license for STO transferred from Perpetual Entertainment to Crytpic Studios after Perpetual ran into trouble, however this acquisition looks like it will have little effect on the game itself.  


Layoffs Hit Star Trek Book Editing Team – Pocket Remains Committed To Trek

Last week Simon & Schuster laid off Marco Palmieri, one of the two primary Star Trek editors at Pocket Books, the licensee for all Trek books. Palmieri’s layoff was one of many across S&S, but it has raised concerns about the future of Trek publishing. Today, a spokesperson for Pocket spoke exclusively to TrekMovie to allay those fears and reaffirm Pocket’s commitment to Trek.



Star Trek Online Update: Cryptic Begins To Chart Its Own Star Trek History

Cryptic Studios has made another one of their ‘Path to 2409’ which tells the story of the Star Trek universe from Star Trek Nemesis (in 2379) to the 25th Century setting of the Massive Multiplayer game and its war between the Federation and the Klingons. They are now up to 2382 and starting to branch away from the history set forward in the books.
