Over the weekend TrekMovie sponsored an American Cinematheque Star Trek Marathon in Santa Monica. On Saturday writer/director Nick Meyer participated in a panel to talk about his time with Trek. After the event TrekMovie had a moment to chat with the director about the new Star Trek movie, a possible Star Trek opera and if he was interested in taking the Trek director’s chair again..

Star Trek: The Exhibit Coming To Hollywood – Opens This Weekend

Star Trek: The Exhibition, the traveling exhibit of Star Trek memorabilia, is going Hollywood…literally. TrekMovie is first with the news that the engagement of the exhibit which wrapped up its stay at Franklin Institute in Philadelphia in August has moved to Los Angeles and opens up at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood on October 10th. REPORT: Star Trek Designers Talk Trek History At Art Directors Guild Event

Sunday night at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, the Art Director’s Guild held a special event honoring the design of Star Trek. On hand was a panel of distinguished designers, including Scott Chambliss and Herman Zimmerman, sharing their thoughts and memories with the capacity crowd. Video will be made available next month, but we have photos and a report with some interesting comments below.

Yesterday TrekMovie put up our interview with Scott Chambliss, Star Trek’s new production designer. The man who held that position for the last couple of decades was Herman Zimmerman, who will join Chambliss at an event on Sunday honoring the design of Trek over the years. This week it was announced that CBS had granted a license for Star Trek replicas to eFX Collectibles, who also announced their first product will be a Mark IX TNG era Tricorder. Art Directors Guild Honoring Star Trek Designers At Hollywood Event

Later this month The Art Directors Guild will be honoring the designers of the final frontier at their "Star Trek: 45: Years of Designing the Future" event in Hollywood. On hand will be veterans of Trek design including Herman Zimmerman as well as Star Trek 2009’s Scott Chambliss. They will be showing clips as well as the Director’s Edition of ST: The Motion Picture. Our friend Daren Dochterman will be moderating the panel.  


Rick Berman Talks 18 Years of Trek In Extensive Oral History

No one spent more time with the Star Trek franchise than Rick Berman, who was a producer from the pilot of Next Generation through to the finale of  Enterprise, overseeing the franchise for most of that time. In a (very) long 2006 interview now available online, Berman gives an oral history of his time on Trek and talks its rise, fall and rise again, as well as his legacy. VegasCon09: Saturday – Guest Movie Actors + VOY Panel + Park & Takei
