Today Airlock Alpha (formerly SyFyPortal) announced the nominees for their annual ‘Portal Awards’, covering all aspects of the world of genre entertainment. The new Star Trek movie received a number of nominations, as did other aspects of Star Trek (including TrekMovie.com itself). If you want to relive the Star Trek movie again and also get some more insights into the characters and events of the film, you can ‘listen’ to the movie via the audio book of the Alan Dean Foster adaptation. Report From Mexico City Star Trek Press Conference (w/ Pictures & Video) + JJ Talks Sequel

The Star Trek movie has opened in most markets around the world, but there are a handful left, including Mexico this weekend. To promote the Mexican premiere JJ Abrams went down to Mexico City with Zachary Quinto, Roberto Orci and Zoe Saldana. GoAnimate Adds More Star Trek Characters & Announces New ‘Backstory’ Contest

GoAnimate.com, the site that lets you make your own animations, today announced that it has expanded its roster of official Star Trek characters to include Nurse Chapel, Gorn, Mara, and two Klingon crewmen. VegasCon 08: TrekMovie Arrives + Preview Of Event

TrekMovie’s New View Of The New Star Trek Poster

The big Star Trek event for Comic Con 2008 was the brand new poster (or actually 4 posters) which revealed four cast images for the first time. The poster was well received, but it was also highly stylized, saturating the Trek crew with colors from the traditional TOS uniforms (gold, red and blue). So TrekMovie decided it would be interesting to ‘reverse engineer’ the actual images from the poster as they might appear in the movie.   


TrekMovie Guide To Comic Con 2008

On Thursday of this week tens of thousands will descend on San Diego California for the ultimate nerd-gasm that is Comic Con. Although there is no big panel for the new Star Trek film, TrekMovie is still going to report on all the other Trek happenings at the Paramount booth and with the other Trek licensee booths, Trek panels and with the various Trek celebrities who will be there. Creation Vegas 08 Con Shaping Up To Be Huge + TrekMovie Ticket Contest

On Sunday TrekMovie.com shared some exclusive preview pics of a Star Trek themed cake to be featured in an upcoming episode of the Food Network show “Ace of Cakes.” The article spawned many comments here and some sites and blogs picked up the story (as per usual). But then some other sites decided to focus on the comments and took one in particular way too seriously.
