Fans in US and Canada are getting a Cable TV Star Trek Christmas present. SciFi Channel is running a Star Trek The Next Generation marathon all day long, starting 8 AM Christmas morning. And for Canadians, there is a Star Trek movie marathon with all 10 Trek movies starting Christmas eve and running through Friday, details below.
UPDATED: Monday night December 15th was a big night for former security officers of the USS Enterprise D. Firstly, Michael Dorn is the latest Star Trek crossover to appear on the NBC comic-book drama Heroes where Star Trek The Next Generation’s Worf was a surprise guest star. Brent Spiner, Data on Star Trek The Next Generation, is known to speak his mind, but it appears these days he is being rather conciliatory. In a new interview wth SyFyRadio (airing tonight), Spiner defends both Trek’s past and present masters, Rick Berman and JJ Abrams. Some advanced excerpts below.
This weekend TNT airs the latest installment of their The Librarian TV movie series (directed by TNG’s Jonathan Frakes). In a new interview with iF Magazine promoting the show, the Trek veteran talks about the franchise, past, present and future, including commenting on his visit to the set of the new Star Trek movie.
Star Trek The Next Generation’s Jonathan Frakes will be appearing at the Boston SuperMegaFest this weekend and in a new interview to promote the event he talked about various things Trek from his auditions, to his beard, to his future as Riker. Is Patrick Stewart (TNG’s Captain Picard) about the trade in the Enterprise for the Tardis? According to a report in the Brit tabloid The Daily Star, the actor has been offered a recurring role on Doctor Who, the hit British Sci Fi series. This report is not confirmed, but Stewart is currently appearing with Doctor Who star David Tennant in Hamlet.

Next Generations Data said that he was too old to return to the role, but ‘never say never.’ The actor also talked about his future projects including his new documentary.
Brannon Braga is headed back to sci-fi television. The co-creator of Enterprise, who has more Trek writing credits than anyone, has just sold a sci-fi pilot script to ABC. Co-written with David Goyer (Batman Begins), Flash Forward sparked a Hollywood bidding war and is being considered a companion show to JJ Abrams Lost.

The official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas kicked off Wednesday with a gaggle of guest stars spanning the Trek series, including John deLancie, Robin Curtis and Denise Crosby. They all delighted mostly filled main auditorium with insights, jokes, and at times some serious discussions about their times on Star Trek.

The Royal Shakespeare Company may want sci-fi fans to show up to see their production of Hamlet starring Star Trek The Next Generation’s Patrick Stewart and Doctor Who’s David Tennant, but apparently they don’t want fans to bring any of their stuff. Although they are allowing autographs, the producers have banned the signing of any Trek or Who memorabilia.

Levar Burton (TNG’s Geordi LaForge) is profiled with an interview in the new issue of the official Star Trek Magazine.
