Happy Treksgiving

The future history of Star Trek introduced us to many new holidays, like the Federation’s First Contact Day, the Klingon Day of Honor and the Bajoran Gratitude Festival. However, some current holidays persisted into the future, including the American holiday of Thanksgiving, with its traditional meal.

There are just two recorded instances of Thanksgiving showing up in Star Trek. Part of the episode "Charlie X" takes place on Thanksgiving Day 2266, and Deep Space Nine shows us that at least some families continued celebrating with a Thanksgiving meal in 2372. Clips showing both Trek references below.

Although it is an American holiday, the spirit of Thanksgiving is one that fits well with Star Trek. It celebrates family, and what is every Star Trek crew, but a family? It is also the celebration of cultures coming together and working together, something that is at the core of Gene Roddenberry’s future.

And in 2009, Trekkies have had much to be thankful for. We have seen the franchise revitalized by an exciting new feature film, all the previous films re-released in HD, lots of new books, comics, and most of all, Star Trek just feels cool again (not that it ever wasn’t).

So on this Thanksgiving, wherever you are in the galaxy, we here at TrekMovie wish you a “Happy Treksgiving” (and Thanksgiving too).

Nice trivia about the “Charlie X” clip – the voice of the cook on the intercom was Gene Roddenberry!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Nice to have the voice cameo from Gene… and to see Bob stopping by. It’s like family.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Even though my husband and I no longer live in the US, we celebrated Thanksgiving with a traditional meal. Thanksgiving is in your heart no matter where you are.

Hey Mr. Orci! Happy Treksgiving! Me and my cousins just watched your all’s movie today + bonus features and saw you posting on here! That was cool. Thanks for helping bring Trek back to all so today we really had something to be thankful for. Oh and by the way I prefer to be called a Trekkie and not a Trekker even though Google says that its politically correct but I guess it doesn’t really matter. Anyway thanks again!

Happy Thanksgiving to all! May it be full with long life and prosperity!

I still remember beeing once the US and wondering about why all shops are closed – and why in the morning after the airports were so overflowing with poeple…..(-;

In germany and most of Europe Thanksgiving is not celebrated…

But nevertheless: Happy celebrations – and yes: We’ve 2 (!!!) public xmas holidays – and for most xmas Eve is also free beginning noon…(-:

In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated in October. So I hope all you Americans have as great a holiday in as we did in Canada, ESPECIALLY ANTHONY for the best website on the internet.

Happy Treksgiving everyone! Peace & long life!

Anthony: I hope one day I get to shake your hand and congratulate you on such a fantastic website!

Thanks for all of your hard work!

Live Long and Prosper and Boldly Go!

My personal favourite is Captain Picard Day :) Happy Thanksgiving and be thankful for Trekmovie.com. cheers!
