Zoe Saldana Gets Risqué In December DETAILS: Excerpts & Photos November 24, 2009

by TrekMovie.com Staff , Filed under: Celebrity,ST09 Cast , trackback

Not to be outdone by Chris Pine, JJ Abrams and the boys of Star Trek who are all over the December GQ Magazine, Zoe Saldana is featured in the December issue of Details Magazine. We have some excerpts, including some racy comments from the actress, plus DETAILS has sent us some hot hi-res photos of the new Uhura below.

Zoe Saldana likes her action

In her recent interview with TrekMovie.com, Zoe Saldana talked about how she wanted to "kick some ass" in the Star Trek sequel. In the December issue of DETAILS, Saldana talks more about her roles in Star Trek and Avatar, and how she has always been drawn to strong female roles, stating:

“I’ve become a little action whore,” Saldana says. Emphasis on action, not the other thing. “I’ve always gravitated toward the Sigourney Weavers, the fucking Linda Hamiltons, the Angelina Jolies. I just love strong women that are in tune with their bodies—that don’t just use their bodies as sex tools. I’m very dominant—feisty. I’m not a man-hater, just a very proud woman."

The feature on Saldana also quotes Star Trek director JJ Abrams, who said of Saldana:

Zoë’s definitely fiery," says Abrams, who has already signed her for the Star Trek sequel. "She has the fortitude for you to put her in control. She could really do the job—not just look good in a ridiculously short dress.

5. capt.Roykirk - November 24, 2009

Hey Anthony, maybe you should hire a censor?

Good thing she didn’t talk that way in the movie.

6. Shatterhand - November 24, 2009

I’ll be in my bunk.

7. Brett Campbell - November 24, 2009

Now this is journalism at its finest. : D

8. Enterprise - November 24, 2009

Lol, she’s too skinny. Also, she’s not that great of an actress.

9. allister gourlay - November 24, 2009

I agree to skinny like all up and coming actresses.
but loved her in Star Trek!

10. Rastaman - November 24, 2009

“…that don’t just use their bodies as sex tools.”

Need I point out the irony of this statement as it is tucked between two scantily clad pictures of her in a bathing suit. She should be proud of her body for sure. I mean, she is absolutely stunning. But to make a statement about not objectifying your body and then go posing half-nude in the same article is a bit ridiculous.

Look forward to seeing more of her in Star Trek XII (pun intended).

11. frederick von fronkensteen - November 24, 2009

Makes me long for Nichelle back in her 40 or so glory years.

That’s a woman!

12. Capt Mike of the Terran Empire - November 24, 2009

She will fit in well in the Terran Empire. She can be the Capts Woman. Wheeeew.

13. Mr. Delicious - November 24, 2009

Yes, but can she do the fan dance?

14. zanzibar - November 24, 2009

15. NCC-73515 - November 24, 2009

nice gold :D that should be a terran empire command uniform!!

16. LCDR Arch - November 24, 2009

Just like Uhura…she looks good in gold but best in red!

Beam Me Up Again

20. Third Remata'Klan - November 24, 2009

@ 13 & 17: LOL.

Hoover DAM!

21. CarlG - November 24, 2009

I had a train of thought when I clicked on this thread, but it seems to have jumped a track or two. Oh, my….

22. Broooooomstick - November 24, 2009

Uhmmm… nice… a bit skinny though… at least for my taste…

23. CmdrR - November 24, 2009

5- Good thing she didn’t talk that way in the movie.

Yeah, cause then it would have made twice as much money.

24. Dom - November 24, 2009

The words ‘sex’ and ‘tool’ really shouldn’t be used in the same sentence next to those pictures!!

Have to pick up that magazine!! The women’s agony columns are always a hoot too!! ;)

25. Simon - November 24, 2009

She’s in that issue yet they have that D-BAG on the cover??? Nice tattoo tool.

26. SupremeDalekOnTheBridge - November 24, 2009

Look, did you guys really need to spell out the F-Word? I imagine kids do frequent here, hell, this place even has a kid’s correspondent. Surely, whoever wrote up this article (it’s just listed as “by TrekMovie.com staff) could have easily typed up “the f###ing Linda Hamiltons”. Most people would’ve gotten what Miss Saldana was implying.

27. garen - November 24, 2009

@26. You realize you said the word “hell” very casually in your statement. Some people consider that to be a profane word as well you know. I wouldnt say “what the fuck” around a child…and i wouldnt say “what the hell”

and as my final point…its simple….its really not that big of a deal that they reprinted the fuck word on here. it just isn’t. get over it.

28. 4 8 15 16 23 42 - November 24, 2009

I see Planned Parenthood has invaded the board…

Anyway, I’m with the “too skinny” crowd myself, but I thought she did a great job as Uhura, and I would find her believable kicking butts and taking names, phaser in hand.

29. 24th Century Rockstar - November 24, 2009

11) Hahaha! – yeah seriously dude, Nichols was working some K-RAZY abs in Mirror, Mirror! XD

But *gasp* TrekMovie is posting an article that features a scantily clad woman! 0__0 Looks like most everyone is pretty chill about it so far – let’s see how long it takes for some of the more skin-adverse folks to turn up the complaining, shall we?

Dig Saldana’s love for the sci-fi heroines, maybe Team J.J. will cut her in on a piece of the action next time out. Catch that Orci? Forget about Klingons and Khans for sec – the real danger in outer space is the wrath of Saldana! You guys are going to have to let her hit SOMEBODY – the tigress needs out of the cage! XD

(look for TOS reference kids!)

– 24thCRS!

30. Nivenus - November 24, 2009

26. Hate to say this but how would that help exactly? Kids can fill in the blanks too (I know – I did when I was younger).

Honestly, I think people are simultaneously too sensitive about profanity AND too eager to use it. I think this is an example of both to some extent.

31. frederick von fronkensteen - November 24, 2009

Maybe it could have said that she said “fu-u-u-u-u-u-udge” except she didn’t really say “fudge,” but the mother of all bad words, the f dash-dash-dash word?

32. The Invader (In Color!) - November 24, 2009

She looks great! I don’t normally like women that thin either…but for some reason, it works for her…

She’s ssssmokin!

33. Kirk's Kid - November 24, 2009

She just doesn’t seem as classy as Nichelle Nichols.

34. SPB - November 24, 2009

The tribble in my pants is starting to purr…

…must… resist… urge… to overload my own phaser…

35. dmduncan - November 24, 2009

I think she should be in charge of handling the Captain’s log in the next movie.

36. No2Khan - November 24, 2009

She needs to do Playboy. Now.

37. Trey - November 24, 2009

Yesss!!! Zoe!!! Lovin her rite now!

38. Greg2600 - November 24, 2009

Wow, John Mayer looks like a dirt bag now.

39. frederick von fronkensteen - November 24, 2009

As much as I love Nichelle, one can’t look at her early nude pics (search google and you’ll find em) and say that Zoe is less classy… they all make mistakes starting out I guess…

40. ZoeSaldana'sThong - November 24, 2009

Wow… uptight folks here.

No problems here with using the “F-Word” (fuck, in case you don’t know what I meant) as it’s quoting the material. Love 27s remark about 26 complaining about some 4-letter words and not others. it’s EON, baby. Everything or nothing.

As for the pix… not a bad looking girl at all, though the smarmy comments about her, captain’s logs, and such leave me with bad images of people hunched over their computers wheezing and making sure mom doesn’t come in.

And to those disappointed that she’s doing bathing suit pix, look at the industry. Doing the Maxim/FHM/GQ/whatever circuit keeps your face (and other naughty bits) fresh in between gigs. It’s not like her face will get much play for “Avatar”.

Funny enough, she’s wearing more in these shots than she did in the movie, and she did some ass wiggling to get that skirt off.

There. Done. Thank you GQ.

41. HotStove - November 24, 2009

She’s one well-endowed lady – I’d like to get my hands on her ample nacelles, if you’ll pardon the engineering parlance…

42. Dennis Bailey - November 24, 2009

Damn, she’s good-looking. A lot hotter than the previous actress who played Uhura, that’s for sure.

43. StevenMAW - November 24, 2009

Two words – Mirror Universe.

44. JustBob - November 24, 2009

That’s not too skinny. That’s just right!

45. ryanhuyton - November 25, 2009

While I do enjoy the pictures, it drives me nuts when actresses claim to be against selling themselves as sex symbols and then posing skantily clad in men’s magazines. If Zoe Saldana and others want to pose, that is fine, but you can’t have it both ways. Men are driven by sex. It is just the way we are. A more logical argument would be that she is proud of her body, wants to flaunt it and does’nt care what anyone else thinks. And I understand that there are those who are offended, and all I can say is that I am sure Zoe and other actresses are comfortable with this. In other words, if no one is being exploited, then there should be no problem. No one is going to agree.

46. Lousy Canadian - November 25, 2009

Mr. Orci and Mr. Kurtzman,

Please, please, please write in that the skirts have to be shorter in the sequel!

TOS Short to be exact! :D

47. DJT - November 25, 2009

48. Colonel West - November 25, 2009

so the poster that uses “ZoeSaldana’sThong” as their handle takes issue with “smarmy comments” that were only a bit of fun?

Whats that I hear? Oh, that’s just the irony being defined.

49. The Invader (In Color!) - November 25, 2009

#42 — That’s your opinion.

Back in the day, Nichelle was pretty damned hot.

That’s my opinion. ;-)

50. CAPT KRUNCH - November 25, 2009

Zoe should due that fan dance that Nichelle did in FF… she has the gams as well!…
I believe even George Takei would say Oh my!

51. The Invader (In Color!) - November 25, 2009

Plus, I do think there’s the class issue with Zoe…she’s a little too “out there” for my tastes. Nobody can say Nichelle Nichols is not a classy lady…

52. Jorg Sacul - November 25, 2009

IMHO, I think her size fits her body type perfectly. So she does some cheesecake pix, big deal. Tell me there aren’t any shirtless Pine pix out there?

Our new cast is young, mostly. Sexy by many accounts. So what if they’re showing their physicality. Not like we’ll want to see them that way in 40 years.

Gotta agree about the coarse language. Just because it’s “hip and edgy” to use the f-bomb all the time anymore doesn’t make it endearing. However, “—-ing Linda Hamilton” is a phrase many a fanboy has uttered over the years, maybe not just using it as an adjective as Zoe did.

53. Captain McColl - November 25, 2009

Anybody for having Kirk, Spock, Scotty and Sulu stranded somewhere and having Uhura in command for a while in the sequel?

54. p.e.b. - November 25, 2009

#26 dude, really? if a kid see’s the F word online, i doubt its the first time he/she’s spelled it or heard it or seen it. besides, with EVERYTHING else out on the net that a kid can look at, the staff here should be the least of your issues.

55. doug_skywalker - November 25, 2009

@6 – Shatterhand

Nice ‘Firefly’ reference!

56. DarthDogg - November 26, 2009

FUCK !!! Wasn’t sure if it’s been said enough. Everyone got it out of there system?…NO, well SHIT!

57. denny cranium - November 26, 2009

she’s so hot I’d crack two eggs on her hip bones and fry them on her navel skillett!

58. somethoughts - November 26, 2009

Glad, Spock is tapping that or is she tapping Spock

59. Trekluver - November 26, 2009

Here’s what I got out of her comment, that she wants to be used as a S*x tool! All I’m saying is that if she’s gonna use words like that about other women then she wants to be that way a times; just like in the green girl sceen. (which by the way made more sense if JJ had kept the secret message thing in the movie, without that I didn’t see the point other than trying to put in a s*x sceene.

60. ryanhuyton - November 26, 2009

#59 There’s no need to edit the word “sex’ here. We’re all mature adults. On the other hand, seeing this as a Trek site maybe not!LOL!

61. James T Kirk - November 27, 2009

Black women never appealed to me, this one is becoming the token black chick of the moment.

62. Izzy - December 14, 2009

#61. Then why did you click on the picture?
