Delta Rising Trailer

Cryptic has released the first official trailer for Star Trek Online’s second expansion, Delta Rising. The trailer (below) shows clips of the U.S.S. Voyager, under command of Admiral Tuvok, voiced by Tim Russ, and various Delta Quadrant locations, characters, and combat.

Cryptic has also been releasing information on Delta Quadrant aliens. Details on Tier 6 Ships

Tier 6 starships have also been detailed in a Cryptic dev blog. While specific classes have not been released, these ships will feature unique abilities compared to other starship tiers.

“Each time your captain gains a level beyond 50 (up to level 60) the starship’s hit points will increase,” states Cryptic’s dev blog. “This feature allows Tier 6 starships to be available at level 50 without making them have more hit points than Tier 5 ships do at that level.”

Tier 6 ships will also feature a “specialist bridge officer seat,” meaning bridge officers slotted in these positions will have access to two different bridge officer power pools.

“Special officers have access to two complete pools of bridge officer abilities. One of these pools is a complete suite of all new bridge officer abilities, while the other is an existing profession: Tactical, Science or Engineering,” states the dev blog. “While these ships don’t always feature a Specialist Bridge Officer seat, all of the Tier 6 ships launching with Delta Rising will feature at least one of these special seats.”

Players will be able to unlock new passive ship abilities and traits as the player levels up, with the intention to allow the ship to “grow” with the player.

More information regarding these announcements can be gleaned through the game’s dev blogs.

I have to say, I don’t like the design of the T6 Fed ships, but I like their hull texture.

Were celebrating 20 years of voyager early,
I hope the next star trek film learns a few things from star trek online, this is what exploring strange new worlds is, visually stunning.

This is great, I loved Voyager – and it seems to get a bit of flak from die-hards, but that’s their silly opinion.

A great plus is the updated Intrepid model, looks a bit more accurate now.

Why do people feel the need to justify their enjoyment of the show by invoking the ‘die hards had a problem with it’ nonsense? The writing on Voyager could be good but far too often the writers would ‘conveniently forget’ previous episodes and contradict what they did before. The writers openly admit this.

It wasn’t a horrible show, but it was a few steps down from Next Gen and Deep Space Nine.

If you enjoy, just say you enjoy it. No need to insult the so called die hards just because they had a problem with lazy writing.

Please don’t ever accuse JJ for turning Star Trek into Star Wars.
Every game and fan based movie is nothing but mega Star Wars films using Star Trek ships and aliens.

What are you talking about? Have you played the game?

3 Jetfreak, 4. New Horizon

I’m not a die-hard, but I hated the show when it first came out. I watched a few episodes, thought it was boring, and didnt’ really pick it up again until after Seven of Nine, when I was able to give it a grudging respect of sorts, at least the after seasons.

Then I started watching some of the early stuff again just recently, starting at the first season, and thought, “Wow….this is actually pretty good.” Aside from the irritating Tuvok rank problem (I…see…..two….pips!) it was a solid season, I think. I had a friend I’d watch with when I first started, and I think a little groupthink messed up my thought process. Or maybe my age. I don’t know, but I think it did pretty good with what it had.

As far as diehards, I don’t think “diehards” had a problem with Voyager because of the lazy writing. At some point we have to admit that TOS wasn’t gold. It was entertaining, imaginative, but we use it as a gold standard when it’s not. It’s only the first.

I echo 6. in that I have no idea what you are talking about, esp. “fan based movies.” What on earth are you on about?

The pending system-wide update (‘X2’) coincides with Delta Rising – and it looks to be really good, With today’s announcement that Jeri Ryan, Robert Picardo and Ethan Phillips (?) are joining Tim Russ and Garret Wang – it’s looking to be an awesome release.

The first new STF is a Borg mission – details are on the website.

I can’t wait for it.
