See Scotty And The Theseus Crew Take A Break In Preview Of IDW’s ‘Star Trek’ Annual 2023

This week IDW’s flagship Star Trek series (recently nominated for an Eisner Award) takes a break before the summer’s big Day of Blood storyline starts with a special annual issue that promises to be an epic franchise crossover and “exciting romp through the history of Trek.” Star Trek is written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly (Batman Beyond, Captain America) with art by Rachael Stott (Fantastic Four). We have covers and a 6-page preview.

This series started out well, but it’s been a mixed bag. There’s just not as much substance to it as IDW and the creators seem to think there is. Still, it’s better than the endless stream of redundant mirror-universe stories we were getting for a while.

Is Scotty singing an Irish song in remembrance of Welshy?

It’s in remembrance of Franklin :)

I don’t care what he’s singing as long as it’s not that damned song Riley kept singing in “The Naked Time.”

No – it’s a Scottish song, but also frequently sung in connection w/ Irish folk music.

I find Rachel Stott’s work marvellous.

I wished she’d done the colouring for the interior, and not just the line drawings. That however is the world of comics, and her main cover is a keeper.

Is that Shaxs?!

Sure looks it to me, Baby Bear!

Yes.

Sisko as a D&D player?

That’s definitely new!

The issue is just full of Star Trek Fan-Wank Tropes – and is actually a follow up to a key episode of VOYAGER!
