Interesting — the Season 3 Blu-ray was manufactured on demand, but Season 4 appears to be going back to a wide release (conversely, it appears the DVD will be MOD this time around).

Anyways, grateful to be able to add this to my physical collection.

We have confirmed that yes this time the DVD is MOD, but not the BD.

Weird???

It’s like they’re too cheap to spend the extra 50 cents to include both the blu-ray and DVD in the same package — like many other studios would do?

That’s fairly common with movie releases, but less so with TV shows. I have a slew of DVD / Blu-ray combo (or Blu-ray / 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray combo) releases for movies, and know of a slew of others, but off the top of my head I’m having a hard time remembering any for regular episodic television.

Yeah, not very common. And 4K/blu ray combos are starting to go away now too. It makes sense to me that SD DVDs are switching to MOD now.

I can’t think of any tv shows that put both formats in the same package.

The Practice, American Horror Story, Spy x Family, etc. etc.

But I will agree that it’s not the norm. But given an entire this series can easily be fit on a 2 disks, it would be better than inexplicably changing their minds every year on which format to a MOD version with — that was my primary point.

Could be Trek fans are more inclined to buy Blu Ray instead. Not sure though to be honest.

Delighted to see this, but no mention of an international release is disappointing.

You need to get yourself a region-free BR player.

The US version only has English audio (and subtitles as well it seems). That’s a problem for international fans who prefer watching the show in their native language (or at least having subtitles).

Ah, understood. Thanks

I have just noticed that Amazon now lists an international release for season 3 in my country, to be released in March. So far all you could get was an import US version. So hopefully, season 4 will get an international release as well but it may take some time.

Interesting timing … I was just looking around for this on Amazon yesterday. Season 4 really hit it out of the park, so I can’t wait to add it to my collection

So happy to see this. I keep fearing that at some point they’ll abandon physical disc releases, at least for any but the top-selling shows (which for this franchise I assume is probably the top couple live-action shows); I’m glad to see it at least continuing as far as LD S4.

I’m also gratified they continue to be so generous with audio commentaries on this particular series. I actually recently took the previous season Blu-rays with me when I visited friends for several days, and we played some of the S2 and S3 commentaries when we had a gathering of audio-commentary-enthusiast Trekker friends, and we all had a delightful time with them (we also listened to a couple commentaries on the TOS Roddenberry Vault and TNG complete series Blu-rays, which are also wonderful, but the LD ones are probably the most purely entertaining ones for get-togethers like that).

Great show – I feel Star Trek works best within the late 24th/25th century time setting. Feels oddly concurrent with today. Probably because we have progressed this era through the years with TNG/DS9/VOY etc. it feels like we are home. Lower Decks has been a blast, hope there is more to come.

Agreed! 👍

The 24th/25th century feels like home too and the era I’m the most invested in.

For me my favorite shows are TNG/DS9/VOY/LDS/PRO in that order. Love them all! ♥️

And we’re getting another season of LDS and (whew) Prodigy as well this year! So happy to see them expand this era.

Season 4 is the best season so far!!! 😍

Loved every episode. This is Star Trek at its best and most fun. Just great to see my Lower Deckers keeping the franchise going!

Such a great show. Hope it keeps going. And maybe someday a sequel live-action series or movie.

I’m pushing for seven seasons and a movie! :)

I will definitely picking up all the blu rays to this show at some point. A year ago I wouldn’t have thought about it but now I’m buying all the Star Trek physical media and so far have all the films along with TOS, ENT and TNG. DS9 and VOY are next! :)

This cover would look amazing as a steelbook
