December/January Virtual Star Trek Events Include William Shatner, Kate Mulgrew, Nichelle Nichols & More

December was supposed to be the new date for the big Star Trek Las Vegas Convention, but the pandemic got in the way. The good news is there are still a number of upcoming virtual events of interest to Star Trek fans, including three from GalaxyCon, and one coming up this weekend.

Three Galaxy con Star Trek events in December/January

GalaxyCon Live has been leading the charge when it comes to virtual Trek events in 2020, with even more lined up for the next couple of months. In addition to free live panels and personalized videos and autographs, they are now introducing virtual photo ops.

December 5th: William Shatner, Kate Mulgrew and TOS guest stars

This Saturday, GalaxyCon is doing a mini Trek con. Star Trek’s William Shatner and Voyager’s Kate Mulgrew will appear together for a free “Star Trek Captains” streaming Q&A at 2 pm ET. Following that event, both will be available for virtual photo ops, one-on-one videos, and personalized autographs. Then at 6 pm ET GalaxyCon will be doing virtual photo ops and autographs with Star Trek TOS stars Bobby Clark (Gorn), Sean Kenney (Christopher Pike and Lieutenant DePaul), Nathan Jung (Genghis Khan), Mariette Hartley (Zarabeth), and France Nuyen (Elaan of Troyius).

December 12: Nichelle Nichols

Star Trek icon Nichelle Nichols will be doing a rare online event on Saturday, December 12th at 3 pm ET. This will include virtual photo ops and personalized autographs (including send-ins). This event will not include a Q&A or one-on-one videos.

January 3rd: Star Trek DS9 stars

The Star Trek virtual events continue into 2021. On Sunday, January 3rd at 2 pm ET Star Trek: Deep Space Nine stars Terry Farrell, Armin Shimerman, Nana Visitor, and Andy Robinson will do a free live Q&A. They will also be available for virtual photo ops, video one-on-one chats, and sign personalized autographs.

What is a virtual photo op?

There may be a pandemic on, but that can’t stop fans from wanting to get photos with their favorite stars. GalaxyCon has come up with a solution. The following video explains how it’s done.

“Virtual Photo Ops”: Or, just find a recent photo of the celebrity sitting in their home on the internet, put it next to a photo of yourself sitting in your home, and save (or donate to charity) $55 to $100…..

I’m glad they are starting these off as free so we can get a feel for how they will be experienced.
