Star Trek Online’s Mirror Universe invasion storyline will wrap up with “Refractions,” picking up on last fall’s Ascension” introducing Wil Wheaton as the Terran Emperor. Now he is being joined by his Next Generation mom Gates McFadden.
Star Trek Online launches its latest season on PC today, with consoles coming at a later date. With the new update, players will experience the conclusion of the “Terran Gambit.” The new season features the return of Wil Wheaton from Star Trek: The Next Generation voicing Terran Emperor Wesley Crusher and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Chase Masterson as Terran Admiral Leeta. And for the first time, TNG’s Gates McFadden lends her voice to STO, as the Terran Dr. Beverly Crusher.
“Refractions” story and details
Here is the story synopsis:
Players will experience the conclusion of the “Terran Gambit” arc where we find Terran Emperor Wesley Crusher has merged with The Other, and now wields its terrifying power. The Federation must find a way to put a stop to the emperor’s reign of terror as he makes a course to Earth, digitizing everything in his path.
In addition to the new episode, “Fujiwhara Effect,” closing out the “Terran Gambit” arc, the new season will include the following content…
Brand New Task Force Operation – Bird Cage: A five-player ground Task Force Operation that will act as a prequel to the episode “Fujiwhara Effect.” Execute a Mirror Universe prison break with four other captains to free Terran Dr. Beverly Crusher so that she may be able to stop her son from destroying everything and everyone in his path.
Two New Patrols: Jupiter Station and Khonshu Khaibit, a ground and space patrol set within the “Terran Gambit” Mirror Universe story arc.
Picard Season 2 Themed Lockbox: A Safe Galaxy: The mysterious Tier 6 Worldrazer Temporal Op Juggernaut, as seen in Picard Season 2, along with numerous “Confederacy” and “Watcher” weapons and gear will be part of this brand-new full lockbox.
13th Anniversary Event: Running from January 24 – February 23, in addition to the above new content, players can earn a new Tier 6 ship, the V’ger themed Compiler Science Dreadnought, collect Omega Fragments and craft highly desirable Omega Tech upgrades from Q and his much-anticipated Omega Molecule Stabilization Game.

It’s really great to see McFadden so involved with Star Trek again. She’s back in full force with so many projects and shows with her podcast, narrating the Star Trek documentaries on the History channel and now joining Star Trek Online. And now of course back full time next season on Picard.
As far as the game, it looks like fun. :)
Is this going to create timeline issues if she dies in Picard S3?
How would it? It takes place in a different universe.
Doesn’t necessarily. The game keeps updating to keep itself in line with canon updates and some things have been imported from the game too. Besides this is Mirror Beverly so it won’t matter what happens to Prime Beverly in Picard. Interestingly they were explicitly told they weren’t allowed to use Prime Beverly in the game because CBS “have plans for the character.”
The mirror universe IS another universe. So… yeah, what I said before. :)
Enough with the damn mirror universe already. IDW milked that to death but only half those stories were good, and now STO is doing it, too. My husband and I could barely get through the last couple of IDW redundant mirror stories. It’s time for something new.
What a horrific thing to endure, my sympathies.
Unless you ABSOLUTELY have to read, watch or play anything Trek… the simple solution would be just not to pick up that series of comics. If you could barely get through it, why torture yourself. Skip the next issues or series or anything that has to do with the Mirror Universe.
So nice to see Gates and Beverly finally getting an appropriate amount of attention! Such an important, undervalued and underdeveloped character.
It was a good ending to the Mirror Universe arc. There’s nothing like fighting side-by-side with my Mirror counterpart.
One of the most incidental of all Trek characters ever.
Is Whil Wheaton voicing Wesley?
That doesn’t look even remotely like Gates McFadden. Mirror universe Crusher clearly has a thing for Terran botox.
..I thought the same, not about the botox but I must admit that’s pretty funny…nice.
I did chuckle at Leeta giving Captain Shon grief over his low DPS, that was surprisingly meta.
you little thought!
