Shatner scene?

The Star Trek movie adaptation description notes how the series includes "scenes not included in the original film!" Previous issues have included some of the deleted scenes that can be found on the DVD/Blu-ray set, like Spock’s birth. The only filmed deleted scene that could be in the final issue would be the brief “Sarek Sees Spock” moment. However, there is also the intriguing possibility that the final comic issue will give us a visualization of the never-filmed scene written for the possible William Shatner cameo in the film. [See the TrekMovie exclusive article to read the Shatner scene.]

im so last and looking forwrd to the movie trek very good so far, strnge so far we have not seen any of the engineering types

I’m hopefully the Kirk Prime scene will be included….but I’m doubtful. I don’t think it ever made it into an actual script, did it? Isn’t that what the creative uses as the foundation for their adaptation?

Is it me or the female andorian on the Burden of Knowledge cover looks like the Chonastock andorian photo series on deviantart? :)

I love Joe Corroney’s covers (Burden of Knowledge, above, among many others for IDW). And yes, I know they’re highly photo referenced, but so is the cover of that ST movie adaptation, and look at the difference. Corroney also has a great eye for composition, which too many comic artists lack.

Scott B. out.

Is that a “sources say” chance of the Shat scene being in there or more like a “wishful thinking” chance? Maybe slightly greater than a snowball’s chance in hell?

If it’s in there I’ll buy it!

I really think the Shatner scene would have undermined the new Trek crew, much like the misguided Riker/Troi stuff did the finale of Star Trek Enterprise.

I’d like to see a post-Countdown Enterprise-E comic book adventure, with Captain Data, Ambassador Picard and co.

Will Worf recover from his stabbing? Will we find out how Data returned? Why did Picard step down to become Ambassador to Vulcan? What the hell is gonna happen in the aftermath of the Hobus disaster?

Loads of potential.

When I click on the image for the omnibus cover, it brings up a cover from a DS9 comic.

Question, on the omnibus cover, why is Uhura the only one with her back to us? And why is her back arched and her uniform clinging to her @ss?

6, Data’s return was explained in the path to star trek online web thingies. Real descriptive i know, :)

something about the soong institute and the “data matrix” inside B4. It was awesome and seeing brought back after Nemesis. To bad it isn’t “official”

I wish you people would just get over fat Shat and let Kirk die his good dead.

Nice flaming post #9! Without Shatner, there is no Star Trek.

Dang! Uhura’s showing off some phat back! You go girl!

#7 – Hah, I wouldn’t have noticed that, but hilarious.

#9

Its “Shatner-bashers” like you who give Trekkies a bad name. Go troll somewhere else!

@7 Sex sex sex! Not that there’s anything wrong with that, except maybe they should have the male characters wear tighter pants enhancing their bulges from time to time to be fair, not that I want to see that. Just sayin’.

#9 I totally agree with you!

#10 Star Trek is a vision, about telling stories of adventures and exploration set in the future with an ethical undertone and one giving hope. It’s not about Shat. Are you forgetting DS9, Voyager, and TNG? Shat (and his Kirk) are just a player in this wider picture, and it is about time the old crew, particularly the Shat, disappear otherwise the rebooted star trek and stories will never appeal to the mainstream masses.

In my opinion, the Shatner scene was one of the best written scenes since the Spock death in TWOK. As a book- end to the original series movies and Kirk’s death in Generations, it would have been epic. And as a counter-point to the seemingly ludicrous promotion of Kirk from cadet to captain it would have been useful.

In short, they should have shot the script as it was written. I consider it a superbly crafted script for what it was supposed to do. I challenge anyone to do better (sorry for ripping you off, Pike).

#10

I seem to recall a whole slew of Trek over the past twenty years that carried on quite nicely without a single appearance from Mr. Shatner. However, I do agree that he was main ingredient that made the original series the legend that it is today (oh, and Nimoy and Kelley were great too).

#16 – agreed. that Shatner scene was soooo awesome…its such a shame it didnt make it in the film….it wouldve brought a certain amount of closure to the unsatisfactory Kirk death……the way its written was like Shatner handing over to Pine – Kirk lives again in nuKirk..

if only….if only….

i really doubt it’ll turn up in the comic…but that would be great if so

#18

Agreed. Bob Orci was on here once, and I urged him to try and put it in the new movie. It stands to reason that Kirk and Spock are still wary of each other – this could be a good way to break the tension at a critical moment.

It could work…maybe?

In any event, I’m hoping the sequel will be the Dark Knight or Spider Man II of the nuTrek series….

I have faith in Orci and the team….

@ Tyanazai

Yeah, it totally is her! Hope she gets some dough or at least some acknowledgment for the use!

Although I love ST comics, I haven’t been reading the movie adaptation – seeing the movie was more than enough – but even a “Shatner” scene in the comic wouldn’t come close to making up for his exclusion from the movie, for me. Too little, too late.

#14

“…not that I want to see that. Just sayin’.”

Are you sure? You’re the one who came up with the idea LOL!

#3
Yes, that female Andorian is absolutely from the Chonastock shoot.

Lol you would think Joe Corroney would have let me know about this, considering it’s totally my Andorian character and the exact pose copied from my photo!

Ah well I don’t really mind, it’s cool to be on a cover.

Might get in touch though to get a copy of the artwork or something though…

Gotta wonder about the Chonastock photo ending up on the cover. According to Ona, she knew nothing about it. So I guess the artist just googled and took what he wanted. :)

Or I could have just read the post above mine and saved myself looking like an idiot. Sheesh! :)

I hope they put the Chonastock ladies in the next movie too ; )

They are total hotties.

Do you think you could bother to tell us what is in the Omnibus for “The Original Series” ?

Ona

yes that is you. Joe tweeted to me “Yes! That’s Ona! A fabulous costume designer and model”

Many thanks to Ona for being a great sport about me using her in my composition for the cover. I loved drawing her. I’m hoping I can draw her again for a future Trek cover as another character. She has some great costumes. Hope you guys like the Burden of Knowledge covers so far, working on cover #4 featuring Kirk and Bones right now.

Great to see some Enterprise era look Andorians and Tellarites showing up in a Original Series comic. It’s about something from the last series got some love.

Isn’t about time somebody hammered out a likeness agreement for Bakula, Trinneer et all and seriously got a ENT mini series comic going? The Romulan War alone must be crying out for it…

#31

Yes I agree about an “Enterprise” comic. If they can do a DS9 one they certainly can do a series about the Romulan War.

It’s very cool that the alien ship designs from Enterprise are being used in comics, but if Starfleet ship design has advanced from the NX-01 Enterprise to the NCC-1701 Enterprise, why would the Andorian and Tellarite ships look the same?

#33

In the 24th century, Starfleet was still using Excelsior, Grissom and Miranda class ships, which began service in the late 23rd century. Starfleet also(and obviously) continually came out with new designs of ships. Starfleet felt that the Miranda, Grissom and Excelsior ships were still spaceworthy and kept them in service. It would be reasonable to assume the same for certain types of Andorian and Vulcan ships.
