Star Trek Online’s TOS-themed Agents of Yesterday expansion launches today. TrekMovie is celebrating by giving away 50 codes each redeemable for the Temporal Agent Starter Pack. Hit the jump for details on how to win.
In celebration of Star Trek’s 50th anniversary year, Cryptic Studios, makers of the free-to-play MMORPG Star Trek Online, have announced the game’s third official expansion. Star Trek Online: Agents of Yesterday sends players back in time to create new captains, fly classic starships (including the Constitution Class Enterprise), and experience new episodes in the Original Series era.
As the press release states:
Agents of Yesterday sends players on a mission to save the future by protecting the past… All of the Star Trek timelines and universes collide when enemies threaten to destroy the past, calling for the recruitment of Star Trek Online’s bravest to become Temporal Agents and defend our very existence.
Agents of Yesterday introduces an exciting cast of characters, voiced by beloved Star Trek actors. This includes Star Trek: The Original Series’ Chekov, played by Walter Koenig and Montgomery ‘Scotty’ Scott, voiced by Chris Doohan, son of James Doohan. The expansion also features Admiral Leeta from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, reprised by Chase Masterson and Temporal Agent Daniels from Star Trek: Enterprise, played by Matt Winston. Actor Joseph Gatt will also make his Star Trek Online debut as cyborg crewman 0718 from Star Trek Into Darkness. In addition to a new cast of characters, Agents of Yesterday also introduces a new specialization tree and new task force missions.
Even if you’ve never played the game, now is a great time to get into STO according to the game’s executive producer Stephen Ricossa who sat down with TrekMovie to talk Agents of Yesterday, the game’s move into the console world, and more.
A full list of the expansion’s features include:
- New Episodes – Players can access the new tutorial section to start their journey as a Captain from Star Trek: The Original Series and experience over a dozen new missions.
- New Starships – Agents of Yesterday includes over a dozen new starships from every era, from the famous 23rd Century Constitution-class Cruiser to the 31st Century Chronos-class Temporal Dreadnought.
- New Specialization Tree – After becoming a Temporal Agent, players can manipulate time to ensure the timeline is protected against those trying to destroy the past.
- New Special Task Force Missions – This new feature allows Captains to team up with other members of the community to take on all-new challenges in space and on ground.
- An All-Trek Cast – The expansion features Chekov, Daniels, and more characters straight from the TV shows and movies voiced by the original actors.
- New Universe to Explore – Agents of Yesterday features content, actors and themes from the Kelvin Timeline, the universe which the 2009 and 2013 Star Trek films are based on.

He can face down a Borg cube fearlessly, but Xindi Tactical Officer Ikava always gets nervous when Captain Deet is standing over his shoulder.

To bad I am waiting for console. Why waste time when it won’t transfer over.
Amazing that Star Trek has been around 50 years
The TOS expansion puts me back into my living room when i was 12, Sitting there in front of the couch with my uncle and dad behind me. Watching Star Trek every week.
My favorite ship has always been the Future Enterprise D from all Good Things! First ship I ever bought in game.
I would like to be considered, please enter me into the contest. Send out a tweet mentioning or tagging @TrekMovie and/or using the hashtag #STOGiveaway
This is my primary ship, the U.S.S. Dagger. STO has done something wonderful–it has brought ALL of the major story arcs and plot lines together into a single, intelligent reality. I mean, for those that have not played STO, aren;t you curious WHY the star went supernova (that proceeded to destroy Romulas)?
This is my old(ish) Ambassador class cruiser the USS Dusk – B. I don’t fly her often, but I honestly do love the look of her.
I’ve been playing STO since its free-to-play launch and love the game because it allows me to immerse myself in the Trek universe and meet a bevy of like-minded Trekkers!
Thanks, I hope I get one
OT – Question for Moderators
How do I access an older article. I do not want to add a comment. I just want to read the article where Paramount/CBS laid out the ground rules for fans wanting to do something with Star Trek. I am learning MS Powerpoint and would like to create some slides (just for fun and practice) that have something to do with Star Trek. I recall that there is a statement that I need to put on my work but I can’t remember what it is exactly.
Hope you can help. Thanks.

Re:OT – Question for Moderators
Right at the top of the screen you have two options.
1. Click on the link labeled ARCHIVE and flip back through the articles from that page.
2. Use the the rectangular white box in the upper right hand corner with the word “SEARCH …” in it by entering the word “guidelines” and hitting your enter key.
Personally, I find the following link:
https://trekmovie.com/2016/
easier for flipping back through all the articles.
Thanks, Disinvited, you beat me to it. This is what I was gonna say!
Thank you, Disinvited (and Kayla)…:)
Keachick,
Re:Thank you
You are welcome.
Kayla Iacovino,
Re:Thanks
You are welcome. No problem, I figure it’s the least I can do to free you all up with more time to investigate things like SCIENCE GOES TO THE MOVIES:
http://www.cuny.tv
that I just stumbled across on one of my local PBS stations. Hosted by two fascinating women, one, Faith Salie, who starred in a couple of STAR TREK episodes of one of the latter series.

I would love to win the Agents of Yesterday Giveaway because who hasn’t tried in vain to tear their shirt before wrestling large, humanoid lizards? It always seemed like it wasn’t meant to be. Whether because of needlessly sturdy material or the fact geckos aren’t actually Gorn. But I tribble! Please, please, please consider me! That may sound too desperate, but, dammit, Jim, I want this!
Thank goodness we actually get TOS style Gorn!

This was my very first, credible ship, the USS Formidable. Sure, Formidable was only an exchange-bought Mirror escort, and no equal to any of the store ships, but she packed a punch, and served me well for almost a year as i gradually built up enough dilithium for a C-store ship. i don’t think I would ever have had the patience had it not been for how dependable Formidable proved to be. It’s been almost a year since I last captained Formidable, but I’ve not discharged her, and I don’t think I could ever bring myself to do that (apologies for duplicate post: forgot to attach image).
Always could use some more cool gear for STO. Trekmovie.com thank you for having a non-fb non-twit way to enter. I miss out sometimes.
I’ve been playing sto since launch now and have made some amazing friends from all over the world playing a game in a setting we all love. What more could you ask for?
Oh please, please let me get one of them… I have loved this game for years… My dad and I used to watch reruns of TOS together, I remember how excited he was when the pilot of TNG came on and it was our weekly thing….
Fingers crossed! Looking forward to seeing what this expansion has to offer.
I enjoy the game cause it takes me to a world that might one day exist in the future and allows me to have fun in a world that set the boundaries for how science fiction was to be.
My favorite, and among the oldest of my characters is a Federation aligned Romulan named Suldak. He’s spanned the galaxy fighting of various cosmic invaders and exploring new frontiers.
About to try this out again for the second time, would be great to win one of the codes.
I have been playing star trek online for over a year and I am loving every minute of it. The best game on a pc and soon on the xbox one. GO ARC!!!!!!!!
The old school Gorn in loincloth rock.
An agent of Yesteryear makes me feel like I’m a kid again.
Agents of yesterday makes me feel like I’m a kid again.
Still my favourite ship, despite being a few years old at this point – Dyson Science Destroyer Warbird. I just love the design behind this ship.
Does it have Vorlon technology?
I would love to get a pack!
I already bought mine before I saw any giveaways, but good luck folks!
can i get some free stuff?
I am very excited about agents of Yesterday. It brings back a lot of memories of whatching Star Trek when I was a kid.Love playing the game and have been since the beginning of its launch on February 2, 2010
I like that they integrated the new Movies with the STO ‘original timeline’ setting. I’d definitely like to win the expansion. :)
I’m glad to see Star Trek come this far. I think Star Trek Online does a great job at showing that. I think playing this game has really put me in a whole new universe. To the future.
this new expansion is allowing me to join the old days of trek and start my journey on a new playthrough!
You guys are awesome! Long-time player of STO and super excited about the new expansion! This is one of my favorite ships, and to me, this game is worth trying just to play around in this universe and be able to fly some really cool ships. I’m dying to get my hands on the new Kelvin Timeline Constitution Class!
I’m standing on top of a massive ship, something that can never happen again in the game.
I’m on top of a large starship, something that can never be replicated again :D
Only in STO do i get to fly my favourite ship right to the front door of DS9. It’s a great game with some great atmosphere.

My ship, Earth and Earth Spacedock.
Captain;s Log Supplemental: We are explorers, the wars has ended and what left of battleships fleets now serves as exploration ships. Crew of USS Homeland boldly goes wher noone ha gone before, to seek brighter futer for the past. We are the last hope for the future. I had five ships named “Homeland”. The name keep us in knowledge that everything we doing we do for our home worlds.
Now we entered space outside our quadrant.
I believe Star Trek is the most iconic show in history. I wouldn’t call that an understatement. I freaked out when the new expanison was announced. In fact, in seeing the trailer, I logged on only to find out that it released in July. Now we are here and I am excited to play it once I get home. I pilot an Eclipse Escort. I love it. I’ve been playing Star Trek Online since early 2013. I have really seen it evolve. I have never won a giveaway. I would very much appreciate to win and, I thank TrekMovie for doing this generous giveaway. This is $200 in value they are giving away so, I just thank you.
I would so love to win one of those starter pack! Keep up the good work!
The USS Ana, valiantly fighting invaders from centuries in the future.
Ah, the classic Star Trek with the old school designs. STO is already a blast, and getting to enjoy it with some old TOS goodness… so awesome. As for a pic of my captain, only one I have was when I had this slight bug that made me partly invisible. I’m going to blame it on Cloaking Gremlins.

I suppose as a game this could be a fun concept, but it unfortunately reminds me of one of the worst inventions of the TNG era.
The idea of temporal agents was poorly though out and badly explained. How exactly do they exist outside of the timeline in order to monitor it for changes and correct them? And if they do somehow, then why aren’t they sitting at the point of incursion, waiting for the Enterprise to show up and send them home before the adventure even begins?
Can’t wait to see the film! Then go home and blast some Cardies in Star Trek Online!
I want to try star trek online. This expansion sounds fun. I have tried to register before but it kept saying every single user name I picked was taken.
Best of all is planet of Guardian of Forever, maybe we get some time additional time traveling in time when that planet been populated and then we travel and learn even more about STO :)
…These are the voyages of the Starship Apollos.
It is like a Delorean of nostalgia and a bird of prey of fun!
