‘Star Trek: Bridge Crew Rescue At Perseph’ Landing At IMAX VR Centers

A special version of the VR game Star Trek: Bridge Crew has been launched to run elusively at IMAX VR centers around the world. Star Trek: Bridge Crew Rescue at Perseph has been developed by Ubisoft to be “optimized for an interactive and multiplayer destination-based IMAX VR experience.”

IMAX VR Centers are VR gaming arcades which employ a modular design with several “pods” where players pay to play various VR games. Star Trek: Bridge Crew Rescue at Perseph utilizes a multiplayer pod where up to four players control different bridge stations on the USS Aegis. From the official release:

Through hand-tracking and full-body avatars, including real-time lip-sync, players can live out their Star Trek fantasies as they operate the Starfleet ship as Captain, Engineer, Helm or Tactical. Each role is crucial to the success of the varied missions players face, and only by working together can the crew complete their objectives.

Like the home version of the game (see TrekMovie review) Star Trek: Bridge Crew Rescue at Perseph is set in the new movie Kelvin universe. Here is a synopsis of the story:

In Star Trek: Bridge Crew Rescue at Perseph, the Federation dispatches you and your crew to command the new vessel U.S.S. Aegis as part of a critical initiative. Your mission: explore a largely uncharted sector of space known as The Trench, in hopes of locating a suitable new home world for the decimated Vulcan populace. The Trench contains stunning beauty and undiscovered wonders, but also strange anomalies and dangers yet unknown. The Klingon Empire is also active in the region, and their purpose is undoubtedly a threat to the Federation’s plans. It’s up to you and your crew to chart the sector to determine the Klingons’ aims, and to secure a peaceful Federation presence.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew Rescue at Perseph is now available to play at the IMAX VR center in Los Angeles and will be coming soon to its centers in New York and Shanghai. The experience will also be available at its upcoming centers set to open in Toronto, the UK, and other locations worldwide in the coming months. Was that at Kelvin Timeline Excelsior class vessel?

Wouldnt mind seeing that show up if we ever get a sequel to Beyond.

Any word on when or if this will hit PSVR as an update/add-on to the existing Bridge Crew game?

PSVR release?

While this is cool, as someone who has “Bridge Crew” for my Vive and my PSVR, all I can say is “Where the hell is the support for existing customers, Ubisoft?”

Tried it out. Awesome experience! You really need to coordinate with your friends to get things going, highly recommended.
