Taking a closer look at the trailer offers some clues.

Captain Pike on Essof IV, looks out from the bunker

Michael speaks to her mom

Burnham’s mom says “People think time is precious, but it’s not. Time is savage.”

Someone (Burnham’s mom or possibly her father) in Red Angel time suit in space, possibly viewed from another time suit

Burnham’s mom on a desolate planet

A Klingon ship lands (possibly flashback to attack on Doctari Alpha)

Klingons on the attack, seen from suit POV

Spock says “What we do now in this moment has the power to determine the future.”

A hand with growing infection, likely Leland who was injected with something in episode 210

Nhan fires her phaser on Essof IV

An explosion in the bunker on Essof IV

Pike on the bridge of USS Discovery says “We haven’t come this far to lose everything now!”

A firefight on Essof IV

Dr. Culber seems to have been cleared for duty….

He certainly fills out that uniform nicely.

Settle down Papa.

A have an Antman & The Wasp Vibe!

Not surprising. The entire season has a Marvel crossover feel to it.

That would not be Star Trek’s first crossover with Marvel.

Next season the Hercules crossover is coming, courtesy of Kurtzman. Be afraid. Be very afraid!

Jako you’re a Marvel MCU fan

Borg nanoprobes spreading? Time travel. Borg origin anyone?

It wouldn’t surprise me that a time traveling AI has access to Borg tech.

Yup I got an Borg vibe since control was said to be ai.

I got a Borg vibe from Ariam.

They better not go there.

Time is the fire in which we burn…

Well, I’d rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment… because they’ll never come again.

lol. :)

For the win!

That looks like a Bird of Prey…

Reminds me of Captain Marvel

So is Burnham Korean also? Her mother is beautiful.

Sonja Sohn, the actor playing Burnham’s mother, has a Korean mother and a Black American father.

But, it is not at all uncommon for African Americans to have almond shaped eyes, a.k.a. epicanthic folds.

You’re post reminds me of the other day when an old lady asked me if I was Tiger Woods.

I’d say the casting is good. She looks believable as her mom.

I’m going with time crystal loop magic to make the sanest go mad.

If so we can’t tell from production stills what’s in the final loop that determines the outcome…

I hope Burnham, Leland and Burnham’s mum survive. But my sense that at least one of them won’t make it.

Could it be that Harry Mudd actually did the universe a good deed by training Discovery’s senior officers how to work through a loop and change the outcome?

I knew Leland wasn’t dead. You can’t keep a good Section 31 agent down. ;)

Is it just me or do those Klingon uniforms seem very TOS looking?

Is there any chance Burnham is her own mother? I’m remembering that DNA line about the Red Angel matching Burnham.

I’m my own grandpa!

This so smells like the Borg are involved ;)

Clearly the awesome sauce is running through Leland’s veins! I mean nanoprobes!

So enjoying this show, and look forward to each new episode in a way I haven’t since DS9 left the airwaves two decades ago!

Dear Lord, please re-visit Pike and keep Anson Mount.
