Save a famous Starfleet Officer

Here is the official synopsis for the story of “Stormfall”: [SPOILERS]

In the final few moments of the last episode, “Red Shift,” players discovered that the individual they had been searching for is actually Lieutenant Ilia from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. In “Stormfall,” Captains will receive orders from Admiral Janeway (voiced by Kate Mugrew from Star Trek: Voyager) to embark on a mission to rescue the captured Deltan Starfleet Officer from a Terran Space Dock. Ilia tells players she needs their help in preventing the Terran Empire from summoning a powerful nemesis. These Terran forces are led by the dreaded Captain Killy (voiced by Mary Wiseman from Star Trek: Discovery) and in order to stop them, Captains will team up with former enemy-turned-ally, Admiral Leeta, (voiced by Chase Masterson from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine),and an Andorian rebel named Rae-Yeet (voiced by Noah Averbach-Katz from Star Trek: Discovery).

More new features

These exciting events all take place in two brand new featured episodes for Star Trek Online. Stormfall also introduces a new 5-player ground Task Force Operation and a special event that allows players to earn a new reward for playing through the latest content. In addition, the developers at Cryptic Studios are working hard to remaster the tutorial experience for the Starfleet faction. This upgraded tutorial will not only provide aspiring Captains with a smoother experience, but will also be updated with new environments, plus more interaction with the Borg and Admiral Janeway.

Additional details will be revealed when “Stormfall” officially releases on Arc Games, Stream and the Epic Games Store beginning May 10.

Admiral Leeta? Give me a break.

Yeah they lost me there.

Are they not referring to Mirror Leeta though?

They are. Regular Leeta is in the game too, but not in this storyline and certainly not an Admiral.

It’s Leeta from the Mirror Universe, and she’s been around in STO for several years.

I haven’t followed STO because I don’t do gaming. But maybe someone can tell me what is going on here? The Terran Empire in post-NEM era? How does that even work, given the dire situation humanity is in DS9?

Well, I LOVE those black and white uniforms. I’d really like to see those in canon Trek… The only version of that design I can remember was Tom Paris’ racing uniform in S6 of VOY…

From the Star Trek Online Wiki:

The Terran Resistance in the Bajor Sector eventually spread through the rest of the Alpha and Beta Quadrant, eventually forming a Second Terran Empire. By the 25th century this Empire reverted to its original aggressive nature, ruling oppressively over its territory and initiating a series of hostile incursions into the prime universe. The new emperor rose to power after a strange encounter gave him god-like powers.

The rise of the Terran Empire is one of my least favorite parts of STO’s storyline. I get it’s good for some in-game conflict, but I was really holding out that the Terrans would strike the right balance in the Mirror Universe (giving Spock’s reforms a second go) instead of just reverting back to their old ways.

MissionLog guys used to say “when Trek doesn’t know what to do, it goes to Shakespeare.” – seems like now it’s “When Trek doesn’t know what to do, it goes to the Mirror Universe”
