The crew from Virtual Trek Con is hard at work preparing for the second annual 2024 LLAPy Awards. The LLAPy Awards celebrate the greatest moments in the Star Trek Univers and are voted on by fans worldwide, who can interact with the presentation of the awards online. The goal of the LLAPy Awards is to be a real representation of what the Trek community believes to be the best of Star Trek, and voting has been extended until Friday, so fans can vote online now.

The LLAPy Awards show itself is part of Virtual Trek Con 5, which will be streamed live in February, hosted by Deep Space Nine star Cirroc Lofton and the 7th Rule podcast team. In addition to celebrating Star Trek’s proud past and exciting present, the 2024 LLAPy Awards show is expected to bring the participation of many celebrity guests from the Star Trek universe. Previous shows featured talent like Tim Russ, Michelle Hurd, Dr. Mohamed Noor, and J.G. Hertzler.
This year, the LLAPy awards will be divided into 23 categories (streamlined down from 25 for the 2022 event). Categories are divided into three divisions: “Legacy,” referring to any Star Trek produced before 2017, “Universe,” which encompasses all Star Trek movies and TV shows, and “New/Current,” looking specifically at Star Trek made in the past year. Each category looks for the best Star Trek story, character, arc, plot twist, romance, and so on.

A final division of “Just for Fun” categories sidesteps the idea of finding the best in a category and asks the audience questions designed to stir up discussion, such as what four Star Trek characters would make the best ABBA cover band or which fictional Trek-Universe establishment would you like to visit in real life.
Voting open until Friday
A previous round of voting determined the finalists for each category. The current round will determine the winners. To ensure as many fans are represented as possible, voting has been extended to the evening of Friday, December 22nd. You can vote using this Google form, which is available publicly on the internet for any fan in any viewing market.
The 2024 LLAPy Awards can be watched live on YouTube at 5 PM US Pacific time/ 8PM US Eastern time on Sunday, February 18th. Voting for the categories can be done on this Google form.
That was a fun little diversion. Reading all those episode titles reminds me what an excellent year for Star Trek 2023 was. Some true classic here, my favorite of course, Those Old Scientists. Infinitely rewatchable, what Star Trek should be!
I agree it was a great year for Star Trek. My favorites were Picard Season 3, Those Old Scientists, and Subspace Rhapsody. TLD Season 4 was pretty good as well.

This was a great year for Star Trek. I loved it all, especially Picard season 3 and Lower Decks season 4. Those Old Scientists probably my favorite episode in all of NuTrek so far.
People think I had it out for Kurtzman Trek. Not true, just bad Kurtzman Trek. 😂🙄
But I can’t deny this has been some of the best stuff not just for NuTrek but for all of Trek.
I’m still cautious over Discovery season 5 and the S 31 movie but I really hope they surprise me too.

23 categories of only Star Trek competing against Star Trek. Thank God that someone finally schemed an award structure where lower decks can finally get off the dime and just win something, anything…let the futility and the embarrassment finally end…lol
