Last night at a screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in Hollywood, director Nicholas Meyer spoke about his time with Trek. One of the more poignant moments was when he spoke of his regret over a specific meeting with Gene Roddenberry shortly before his death. Watch video clip below.

Last week Star Trek co-writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman told us they (and Damon Lindelof) were just starting to break the story for the sequel due June 29th, 2012. At the same event, TrekMovie also spoke to producer Bryan Burk, one of the other members of Star Trek’s five-member "Supreme Court", who gave an update on the plans for the production, and also talked about how the team want the sequel to be even bigger than the first.

Last but not least from our video updates from the Saturn Awards, TrekMovie had some quick moments with three of Star Trek’s most famous guest stars: John deLancie, Malcolm McDowell and Catherine Hicks. deLancie talked Star Trek: The Music and the new movie, McDowell talked about killing the original Kirk and the new Kirk, and Hicks talked about how she is "Leonard Nimoy’s girl."

Last Thursday JJ Abrams Fringe won two acting Saturn Awards (Ann Torv and Leonard Nimoy. TrekMovie spoke to Nimoy and Torv along with Fringe’s Lance Reddick before the show. Torv talked about season 3 of Fringe and being the last actress to work with Nimoy. Reddick talked about S3 and his goal of getting into the Star Trek sequel. Today German game maker Gameforge announced they have signed a worldwide licensing agreement to publish free-to-play casual browser games based the Star Trek franchise. As noted yesterday’s Academy Award analysis, the Makeup category appears to be Star Trek’s best chance to take home an Oscar, which would be a first for the franchise.
