BioTrekkie with the Admiral is back!

The YouTube series is hosted by Dr. Mohamed Noor, biology professor and an official consultant on Star Trek: Discovery seasons 3-4, and Jayne Brook, who played Admiral Katrina Cornwell in seasons 1 and 2. The show will return to YouTube on Sunday, April 7  at 10:00 am PT / 1:00 ET, following the international release of Discovery season 5 episodes.

The series, which launched in 2021, features Noor and Brook teaching real-world biology concepts using Discovery events as a springboard. They alternate roles; when they’re talking about biology and science, Noor plays the role of teacher, then they switch when Brook discusses the craft of acting and production.

Here’s the official announcement for the new episodes:

Videos are scheduled to come out every other Sunday and will cover two episodes of Discovery, looking at the science as well as how the show gets made.

You can also check out their guest appearance on the All Access Star Trek podcast as well as previous episodes on the BioTrekkie Explains! YouTube channel. Here’s one from Discovery season 4 where they talk about the butterfly people, the chances of survival in space without a space suit, and the challenge of filming a scene with a full cast and multiple cameras.

Discovery returns on April 4

The fifth and final season of Discovery debuts with two episodes on Thursday, April 4 exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., the UK, Switzerland, South Korea, Latin America, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, and Austria. Discovery will also premiere on April 4 on Paramount+ in Canada and will be broadcast on Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel in Canada. My most enduring memory of Jayne Brook remains her stint on “Chicago Hope.” The episode where she deals with the trauma of seeing a beloved friend and colleague gunned down in front of her was one helluva showcase for her.

Happy to see this return. The episodes are usually quite some fun.

Love Jayne Brooke, always did. Big mistake to kill off her character on DSC. Not sure why she isn’t booked more. She is always good when I see her on TV.
