The nominations for the 43rd Saturn Awards were announced today and Star Trek Beyond has been nominated in four categories. Not only that but Star Trek: The Animated Series and some Trek alums have also been nominated. Get the details below.

CBS have announced the winners of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds writing contest. The 10 Grand Prize winners, chosen from hundreds of submissions, will each receive a $1000 prize, and their stories will be included in the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2016 Edition Anthology, to be published in digital first format this year. The two First Prize winners will each receive a free publishing package from Archway Publishing valued at approximately $5,000 to publish a book on a subject other than Star Trek.
Tonight, the 42nd annual People’s Choice Awards airs on CBS. While no Star Trek productions are up for a win this year, we can take a look back to 1980 when William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy presented at the 6th annual award ceremony. Take a gander, and marvel at Leonard’s epic mustache.

Kate Mulgrew wasn’t able to become the second Star Trek main TV cast member to win an Emmy Award on the 66th Annual Emmy Awards held in Los Angeles on Monday. However, Star Trek Into Darkness’ Benedict Cumberbatch was a winner. See below for more, including pictures of Mulgrew from the event.

Thursday night in Burbank was the last stop in awards season, with the 40th Saturn Awards – honoring the best in science fiction and fantasy. Last summer’s Star Trek Into Darkness went into the night with five nominations, but got shut out. There were also more Trek-related winners and losers at the Saturns. Details below.
There’s a few bits of Star Trek-related award news today. First up the original Star Trek series was nominated (again) for a Television Critics Association Award, as was William Shatner. And Bill won an award for his latest audio book, as did Wil Wheaton. And new Star Trek movie star Benedict Cumberbatch picked up another award nomination.
Yesterday brought good awards news for two actors working on the Star Trek sequel. First up Benedict Cumberbatch won an acting award for his work on the UK stage in the play Frankenstein. Plus Zachary Quinto’s first film as a producer picked up an Oscar nomination for writing. Star Trek VI’s Christopher Plummer also picked up an Oscar nomination. The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Award were held tonight in Los Angeles. Amongst the nominees were several Trek vets, including Star Trek 2009’s Damon Lindelof and Michael Giacchino, as well as Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Patrick Stewart. The theatrical release of JJ Abrams 2009 Star Trek movie did well with the critics and now the home video release has followed suit, winning the top title at the DVD Critics Awards. There is also news that Star Trek may be available soon for Netflix HD streaming.
