It was my first experience of the Phoenix convention, and I was delighted at the plethora of Star Trek events to cover! The Axanar copyright lawsuit has just claimed its first casualty: Not Axanar itself (yet), but the sequel to the recently released — and well-received — Star Trek – Horizon. Does this signal the end of all Star Trek fan films?
Beau Billingslea, Captain Abbott of the USS Bradbury in Star Trek Into Darkness, will co-star in the seventh episode of fan series Star Trek Continues. TrekMovie is also able to announce that the episode will be titled “Embracing the Winds” and features Billingslea as Vulcan Vice Admiral Stomm.

Star Trek fans looking for an experience uniquely geared for them need look no further than what’s beaming in to Ticonderoga, New York, from September 4th – 6th. The new convention, Trekonderoga, will be celebrating all things Trek. In attendance will be an array of guests who were part of Star Trek both in front and behind the cameras. In addition to the more traditional celebrity aspect of a convention, they will also be hosting tours of actual sets, conducting make-up workshops, and special episode screenings with creators adding commentary along the way.

Star Trek: New Voyages/Phase II has been going strong for 13 years now, and it feels like they are just hitting their full stride. With nine full episodes under their belt and three more in various stages of production they’re turning back to the fans to help them keep moving along at warp speed with a fresh Kickstarter campaign.
