Letter of Note: Gene Roddenberry Defends Star Trek “The Cage” Pilot

In 1965 Gene Roddenberry had submitted his Star Trek pilot “The Cage” to NBC, but the network was having some issues with it. This prompted Roddenberry to write a lengthy defense of Star Trek to his agent to make his position clear as they negotiated to get Star Trek on the air. Big Star Trek Celebs Fill Trek Trak Schedule For Dragon*Con 2010

This weekend Atlanta, GA is host to the the annual Dragon*Con, a huge fan friendly pop-culture convention. As usual there will be an extensive "Trek Trak" with a nubmer of events and celebrity appearances, including Jonathan Frakes, Scott Bakula, Avery Brooks, LeVar Burton, Brent Spiner, Marina Sirits and more. Wil Wheaton Returning To Big Bang Theory

CBS hit show Big Bang Theory is firmly established as the nerdiest comedy on TV. The show about a group of Cal Tech scientists is rife with sci-fi references, and early this season they hit an apex when Star Trek The Next Generation’s Wil Wheaton appeared (playing a rather evil version himself) taking on the shows breakout character Sheldon. Reviews: Gene Roddenberry’s ‘Genesis II’ & ‘Planet Earth’

John Cho: Star Trek Cast ‘Hell-Bent’ For Sequel

Last week ABC debuted their new sci-fi show FlashForward (co-created by Trek vet Brannon Braga), with Star Trek’s new Sulu John Cho on board as part of the ensemble cast. Cho is now promoting the show, but of course is also being asked about Star Trek. Cho comments on the status of the sequel and if he (or the other actors) will be able to juggle their busy schedules for the next Trek.

CBS & Paramount Announce First Star Trek Blu-ray sets – TOS S1 & All TOS movies coming April/May [UPDATED]

Today CBS and Paramount made official what we have been reporting for months, for the first time ever, Star Trek is coming to Blu-ray in 2009. CBS announced a Blu-ray set for the first season of TOS and Paramount announced all the TOS era movies are coming to Blu-ray, all to be released this Spring.
