REVIEW: Star Trek: The Original Series – The Roddenberry Vault on Blu-ray

When The Roddenberry Vault project was announced to the world earlier this year at Comic-Con, it was a huge surprise to the legions of Star Trek: The Original Series fans. The Original Series is 50 years old this year, and fans thought that whatever there was to see from TOS had been seen; after all, for the 40th anniversary it had been given a proper HD scan, which meant digging all the film out of the CBS/Paramount archives. So what else is there? Read on to find out…

SDCC News: Roddenberry Vault Blu-ray announced

In a happy surprise from the Rod Roddenberry San Diego ComicCon panel, it was announced that Rod had culled through archives and found cut segments of Star Trek Original Series episodes, plus other behind-the-scenes bits. It will be released on a Blu-ray later in 2016 with a brand new documentary by Roger Lay, Jr (who was part of the team that did the awesome TNG and ENT Blu-ray documentaries). The full press release is after the break.

Star Trek Online’s Agents of Yesterday expansion officially rolled out to players on Wednesday and I have played my way through it with great pleasure. REVIEW: Star Trek: The Motion Picture Complete Score

“There is no comparison!” was the tagline for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, presumably a reference to 1977’s Star Wars. While certainly debatable whether true, the tagline is arguably applicable to the treatment given to Jerry Goldsmith’s soundtrack with the new LaLa Land Records’ Star Trek: The Motion Picture Limited Edition 3CD set. TrekMovie details the release in this new review.
