The man who held that position for the last couple of decades was Herman Zimmerman, who will join Chambliss at an event on Sunday honoring the design of Trek over the years. No one spent more time with the Star Trek franchise than Rick Berman, who was a producer from the pilot of Next Generation through to the finale of Enterprise, overseeing the franchise for most of that time. In a (very) long 2006 interview now available online, Berman gives an oral history of his time on Trek and talks its rise, fall and rise again, as well as his legacy. This week the Library Computer reviews the second Deep Space Nine novel in a row from Pocket Books, Una McCormack’s “The Never Ending Sacrifice”. This isn’t the first Star Trek novel to find a genesis in an episode of one of the series, but it certainly isn’t like any Star Trek novel that has ever come before.

This summer Pocket Books is releasing two Star Trek Deep Space Nine novels back to back. Last week we reviewed the just released "Soul Key" which deals with DS9 crew and the Mirror Universe. In August "DS9: Never Ending Sacrifice," written by Una McCormack, tells the story of the Cardassian Empire in the post Dominion War period.
