Frakes Proud To Be ‘The Guy From Star Trek’

Nearly three years since Jonathan Frakes last stepped foot on a Star Trek set, the actor who portrayed Commander William T. Riker recently sat down with Dreamwatch Total Sci-Fi to discuss The Next Generation. When asked if he and his castmates expected TNG to play such a huge part in their lives, Frakes replied:

Urban: Bones Still Irascible December 21, 2007

It appears that Karl Urban (the new Dr. McCoy) is doing the rounds for CBS’s mini-series Comanche Moon in which he plays a Texas Ranger and of course reporters are using the opportunity to talk Trek. Urban told TV Guide that he is “not allowed to say” whether or not he will be delivering McCoy’s trademark line “I’m a doctor, not a [blank],” but he did talk a bit about the character of McCoy.

Lindelof: It’s Not Your Daddy’s Star Trek + Quinto On Chemistry With Pine

Hollywood.com has a new overview article on the new Star Trek movie, which includes some quotes from producer Damon Lindelof and others. Lindelof didn’t get into any plot details, but implied that some of the rumors out there may merely be guesswork. We know that Lindelof and co-writer Roberto Orci are the card-carrying Trekkies on the project, but Lindelof feels it is important to have the film appeal beyond just the fans.

Security Makes Star Trek A No Smoking Shoot – Ryder Not Happy December 20, 2007

The secrecy of the new Star Trek film is becoming legend in Hollywood. In an interview earlier today Karl Urban (McCoy) noted that it was the most difficult thing to deal with and it appears he isn’t alone. Contact Music is reporting that security concerns have resulted in a smoking ban, and apparently Winona Ryder (Amanda Grayson) is ‘furious.’

Urban Talks McCoy + Surprise Guest On The Set

Another actor we haven’t heard much from is Karl Urban, the new Dr. Leonard McCoy. The actor is appearing in the CBS mini-series Comanche Moon in January and in an interview about that he also took some Trek questions. Urban tells TheDeadbolt.com that it is difficult for him to deal with all the security surrounding the film, saying “you feel your freedom is a big challenge.” Urban also talked about the faithfulness of the characters and a surprise guest who dropped by the set…

Long Beach City Staffers Invited To Watch Star Trek Filming December 19, 2007

A week ago it was reported that the production crew for the new Star Trek movie was headed to Long Beach, California for some location shooting. The film makers wrapped up their work at the City Hall on Friday, but before they left they gave a few select people a treat.

USA Cancels 2 Shows From Trek Vets

The USA Network has given the axe to two genre shows co-created by Star Trek veterans: The 4400 and The Dead Zone. The 4400 was created by Scott Peters and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine writer and producer Rene Echevarria. The Dead Zone was created for television by Deep Space Nine & Voyager co-creator Michael Piller with his son, Shawn Piller (who wrote for TNG and VOY). Both shows also featured a number of Trek vets both in front of and behind the camera.

Shatner In The Movie Saga Still Not Over

Over the last few months there have been a lot of stories regarding whether William Shatner will or will not be in the new Star Trek movie. Periodically a report crops up that claims to have the definitive answer one way or another. The latest is a new report at Moviehole claiming ‘final confirmation’ from co-writer and executive producer Roberto Orci that Shatner will not be in the film. However, it appears they have jumped the gun.
