A couple of weeks ago we posted the first part of an LA Times video interview with Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy. The second part has just been posted online and you watch it below, where Nimoy talks about the link between Star Wars and Star Trek and even does does his impersonation of William Shatner! Most interesting, Nimoy critiques Star Trek: The Motion Picture, saying he doesn’t think of it as a Star Trek movie. He also says that he is "played out" with Spock.

Star Trek producer/director may a big Hollywood mogul, but he is still a nerd at heart. Case in point comes from two reports (confirmed by TrekMovie) on people he personally reached out to for roles in the Trek sequel. Abrams successfully got Nolan North (voice of the hero in the "Uncharted" games) into the film and tried (but visas couldn’t be worked out in time) to get Norwegian chess grand master Magnus Carlsen too.

On Saturday, the third day of this year’s FedCon, Jonathan Frakes revealed he had been on the set of the new Star Trek movie, William Shatner filled not one but two rooms and talked about JJ Abrams not hiring him, while Gates McFadden told the audience about her heroes and said she hoped to join Wil Wheaon on Big Bang Theory. Last week we reported that principal photography production for the Star Trek sequel had wrapped, but it appears there is still some filming to do. TrekMovie has confirmed that the Star Trek sequel is headed to Iceland for some 2nd unit shooting. Exclusive details below.

Director JJ Abrams has wrapped production on his second Star Trek movie. Today marks the final day for principal photography for the Star Trek sequel, and it just happens to fall on the three-year anniversary of the release of Abrams first Star Trek film.
