Collectors Pick Up Good Deals At Julien’s Star Trek Auction

The second of this summer’s three big Star Trek auctions happened Sunday. The Julien’s auction was different in that it had fewer actual props and costumes and was mostly the Gene and Majel Roddenberry estate sale, along with a number of items from William Shatner. Overall, the auctions was a success for collectors because of reasonable prices, including the few 2009 Star Trek movie items.

On Saturday night the Simply 70(mm) Star Trek Summer movie series continued at the Royal Theater in West Los Angeles showing Star Trek III with guest associate producer Ralph Winter. At the event, Bill gave the audience an update on future Trek-related projects, commenting on the Star Trek sequel, giving more details on his "Captains" documentary, and talking more specifically about Free Enterprise 2. This weekend William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and many more Star Trek stars are headed to Vancouver for an official Star Trek convention. Over the weekend the annual Pedalpalooza was held in Portland, Oregon. The four day festival celebrating cycling included a number of events and rides, including a "Star Trek vs Star Trek" ride on Saturday. Lots of fans of both showed up in costume and with bikes modified for space-flight. Check out photos below.

Today German game maker Gameforge announced they have signed a worldwide licensing agreement to publish free-to-play casual browser games based the Star Trek franchise. To celebrate their 20th anniversary, the new issue of Entertainment Weekly (on newsstands now) counts down what they are calling the "100 Greatest Characters of the Last 20 Years". While the list include a number of well known sci-fi characters, not a single character from the Star Trek franchise made the list.


Star Trek Live Touring Schedule Released – To Visit 24 Cities In North America

As reported before, on May 31st the interactive educational "Star Trek Live" stage show premieres at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and will run through the summer. Today CBS has announced dates for the touring version of the show which kicks off June 11th in San Diego and then goes to over 20 cities around North America during the summer and fall. Trekkies in Germany and Tampa Beat Star Trek Costumed Fans Record

On May 1 Trekkies on two continents set out to break the world record for a gathering of fans in Star Trek costumes. The gatherings in Tampa, Florida and Bonn, Germany both succeeded in beating the record set in London earlier this year. But it was the group at the FedCon XIX Convention that wound up with what (pending certification) will be the new world record.  


CBS Experimenting With Converting Star Trek TV Series To 3-D – Moonves Not Convinced There Is A Market

The next big thing for television technology is supposed to be 3-D TV. So far content is scarce as studios and broadcasters are just starting to plan out their 3-D TV strategies. And in the case of CBS it appears that part of their testing of the technology has been with classic Star Trek, but the head of CBS isn’t too impressed.  


June Star Trek Charity Auction – Contains Lots From Roddenberry Estate, William Shatner & 2009 Star Trek Movie

In June Julien’s Auctions will be holding an auction of items from the estate of Gene and Majel Roddenberry, from William Shatner and from JJ Abrams & Paramount. The lots, on auction to benefit charity, will range from personal items from Roddenberry’s office, to costumes from the 2009 Star Trek movie, to William Shatner’s motorcycle.
