We have come to Season 3 in the Blu-ray release schedule, this is the season many feel Enterprise became a show worth watching. Season 3 contains the season long arc of the Xindi threat. It also contains some great one-shot stories outside of the main Xindi narrative such as “Twilight” and “Similitude”, and a couple of pretty lame ones too, such as “Extinction” which is called “one of the singularly most embarrassing episodes of Star Trek I’ve been involved with” by Brannon Braga in the documentary on the set. Read on for the full review of this generally excellent season.
This really seems to be the day of Enterprise news. After today’s earlier Tweet from Brannon Braga about the Writer’s Reunion special feature that will be on Season 4, CBS Home Entertainment quietly put up their trailer for the Season 4 Blu-ray release. StarTrek.com reports that it is coming on April 1, 2014. See the video after the break, be sure to watch in HD and full screen!
Brannon Braga gave Enterprise fans a little gift today when he posted a picture of the just filmed Writer’s Reunion for Star Trek: Enterprise to Twitter. Shooting writing staff reunion for enterprise!! pic.twitter.com/VV189yY9oL — Brannon Braga (@BrannonBraga) December 18, 2013 In the photo are: Andre Bormanis, Chris Black, Phyllis Strong, David A. Goodman, Brannon Braga, Mike Sussman, Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens. The previous reunions done for the TNG and ENT Blu-ray sets have all been great. Look forward to seeing this on the Enterprise Season 4 Blu-ray set, expected in mid-2014. –Thanks to TrekCore for pointing out Braga’s tweet
Season 5 continues the well oiled machine that we knew as TNG. Season 5 is one of the best seasons of TNG. Of course Season 5 includes “The Inner Light” and other excellent episodes such as “Power Play,” “I,Borg” and “Cause and Effect.” Read on to see how the season looks re-mastered and details of the generally excellent new bonus features, available November 19th in North America.
Along with the boxed set of Season 5, the single disc release of ”Unification”, the special 25th anniversary celebration of the two generations meeting, will also be available to purchase on November 19 in the USA. As with other single-disc releases, both parts have been edited together to make one 90-minute TV movie.
Star Trek Enterprise Season 3 is due out in the new year, January 7th, 2014 in North America. With that time fast approaching CBS has now officially sent out the details of the Blu-ray discs and the revised cover art (it still basically the same, but uses corrected Season 3 images of T’Pol and Archer). As we’ve come to expect from the Blu-ray bonus material team of Roger Lay, Jr. and Robert Meyer Burnett there is a new 3-part documentary charting the change in tone and direction that took place for Season 3 called “In a Time of War”. They also have an interesting sounding new feature called “Temporal Cold War: Declassified” which as the name implies is about the temporal cold war, it contains interviews with the writers and producers about what else might have gone on with the temporal cold war arc if Season 3 hadn’t changed directions. Plus there are new episode commentaries. Read on for the full details from the press release.
There are now a few more details of the Season 5 and Unification single-disc Blu-ray releases thanks to a new press release from CBS Home Entertainment today. Season 5’s special features include a new season 5 documentary titled “Requiem: A Remembrance of Star Trek: The Next Generation.” This two-part documentary explores the making of the series’ fifth season and focuses on the effect the passing of creator Gene Roddenberry on the show. Also exciting for fans of TNG’s music is the newest roundtable discussion documentary: “In Conversation: The Music of Star Trek: The Next Generation” which features TNG composers Ron Jones, Dennis McCarthy and Jay Chattaway. Both are due out in the US next month, November 19th to be exact. See the full details after the break.

Season 3 represents a big tonal shift for Enterprise, forced into action when a mysterious weapon leaves a swath of devastation across the surface of the Earth at the end of Season 2, Archer and crew now set out to find the previously unknown people called the Xindi and stop them from launching their final doomsday weapon. This includes various “prime universe” episodes that are related to the characters or aliens seen in Into Darkness in some way. While we expected Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 5 to be the next up on the Blu-ray slate, we weren’t sure if CBS would do a single-disc release this time, since the Season 5/6 cliffhanger of “Time’s Arrow” is hardly a fan favorite. The most logical choice, that many had been speculating, is the two-part 25th anniversary celebration, “Unification”, featuring the return of original Trek legend Leonard Nimoy and his character Spock. We don’t have full details yet, but there is new partial information about both releases. Both are expected to be available on November 19th for the US and Canada. UPDATE Sept. 9 – CBS has posted a video trailer for Unification

When the details of the Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray discs were released last month, there was a big fan outcry wondering what happened to a fully loaded version with extras, like we got with Star Trek (2009)? The DVD version fared even worse, being a totally barebones release. Friend of TrekMovie, Bill Hunt from The Digital Bits, has that answer. It turns out that a plethora of bonus features do exist… it’s just that Paramount doesn’t want them all in one place. They are being used for retailer and digital download vendor exclusives. UPDATED 9/2/2013 with even more details thanks to TrekCore’s diligence.
With the physical disc release of Star Trek Into Darkness only a few weeks away (September 10th in the US) and the digital download version available now, Paramount has sent out a clip of the “making of” feature included on the Blu-ray editions of the movie. Conventional Trekker wisdom says that Enterprise didn’t get good until Season 3, but as I looked over Season 2’s episodes I was a little bit surprised to see how many episodes I looked forward to revisiting. There are some very good episodes nestled throughout Season 2, though the less said about “Precious Cargo”, the better. As Scott Bakula says in the cast reunion feature on the set, about half-way through season 2 things changed for the better. I’m inclined to agree. Read on for the full review of Enterprise Season 2 on Blu-ray!
Season 4 is the start of the well oiled machine that we knew as TNG, coming off the success of Season 3 and the attention of using the cliffhanger format for “The Best of Both Worlds”, Season 4 is the first season to have all of the production staff that would be there through the series end. Season 4 contains a lot of fan favorites such as Family, Brothers, Data’s Day, The Wounded, The Drumhead, Qpid, and Redemption. Read on to see how the season looks remastered and details of the new bonus features.
Along with the boxed set of Season 4, the single disc release of the two-part cliffhanger “Redemption” is also available starting today in the US. Like The Best of Both Worlds that was released with Season 3, both parts have been edited together to make one 90-minute TV movie.
To coincide with the release of Star Trek Into Darkness on Blu-ray, CBS and Paramount have teamed up to offer a new “best of” TOS Blu-ray disc release available the same day as the Blu-ray release of Star Trek Into Darkness, September 10. The clear standout of the set looks to be “In Conversation: The First Crew” where the Roger Lay Jr. the producer of the Enterprise sets has managed to get the main cast together for a chat. If this is anything like the great conversational interviews done for TNG and ENT Season 1 we should be in for a treat! Click on for full disc-by-disc details from the press release.
