CBS and Alcatel Reveal First “Star Trek: Discovery” Ad Tie-in With 360° Video

Alcatel, a large North American mobile phone manufacturer, has partnered with CBS Interactive to debut what they are calling a “VR experience” at major tech conference CES 2017. The 360° video is hosted on CBS’s YouTube channel and is the first advertisement tie-in for Star Trek: Discovery although it does not contain any material directly related to the network’s newest Star Trek series.




UNCONFIRMED: “Star Trek: Discovery” May Have Its First Star In Michelle Yeoh

ComingSoon.net is reporting that Michelle Yeoh, star of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is set to headline Star Trek: Discovery. Her role is as yet unconfirmed but may be the series lead, a female Lieutenant Commander, or possibly the ship’s captain, rumored to be a woman of color. UPDATE: New sources have confirmed Yeoh’s casting with additional details on the role she will play, and Yeoh herself has made a comment.


Simon Pegg: Krall ‘utterly mirrors Donald Trump’

Simon Pegg, co-writer and co-star of Star Trek Beyond spoke with Entertainment Weekly recently about writing the film’s villain, Krall, comparing him to the Republican presidential candidate in the United States. He also talks about Star Trek’s “heart”, a deleted scene with a nod to Lieutenant Romaine, and the possibility of a fourth Kelvin film.

New Documentary Series Teleportation 2161 Examines Star Trek’s Legacy in France

Star Trek has never been a popular show in France, only gaining some popularity there after the recent JJ Abrams reboot films. Teleportation 2161 is a new French 10-part documentary series just translated into English, Spanish, and German that takes a look back at the 50-year-old franchise and what it means to the French in a time when it’s still uncool to be a Trekkie.

MAC Cosmetics was on the main stage today at Star Trek Las Vegas promoting their newest line of makeup: a special collection inspired by Star Trek, which includes looks based on some of our favorite leading ladies Uhura, Deanna Troi, Seven of Nine, and the Orions. The panel included a makeup tutorial with host Ashely Rudder giving the audience tips and tricks on how to get the best looks for different people and situations.
