After rumors and speculation it was finally confirmed last week that JJ Abrams’ next project as a director will the alien mystery Super 8, a collaboration with Steven Spielberg. Last year the Starship Farragut fan series went into the second dimension with their first episode of Starship Farragut: The Animated Episodes, styled like the original Star Trek The Animated Series. The mystery of JJ Abrams secret project continues to unfold. Last we heard a trailer for a sci-fi film called "Super 8" was going to be seen with Iron Man 2 this weekend. It was also rumored to be a prequel to Clovefield. Now JJ Abrams has confirmed the film exists, but denied the link to Cloverfield.
Even though he is approaching 80, there is no sign that William Shatner is slowing down. In fact he is adding more and more to his plate. Today A&E Networks announced that not only are they picking up the Shatner’s Bio Channel talk show for another season, but they have ordered a new series: Shatner’s Aftermath.
There is a new Star Trek fan production that has just released their first episode and it is pretty impressive. Star Trek Phoenix, produced by the Seattle-based Temporal Studios, is a new take on the 25th century of Trek’s prime universe, set aboard a massive new ship: the USS Phoenix. More details below.
Since late 2007 www.startrek.com, the official site for the Star Trek franchise, has been mostly dormant. But that is about to change. This summer CBS is relaunching the site with a new look and new features. The new site will also showcase fan sites, including TrekMovie.com. More details below.

On May 1 Trekkies on two continents set out to break the world record for a gathering of fans in Star Trek costumes. The gatherings in Tampa, Florida and Bonn, Germany both succeeded in beating the record set in London earlier this year. But it was the group at the FedCon XIX Convention that wound up with what (pending certification) will be the new world record.
