It appears that Mr. Stewart is too busy in London making big money as an Olympics tickets scalper (or touter as they say across the pond). Star Trek Comics Writer Talks Timeline Divergence Leading To 2013 Sequel

With the release of the Star Trek sequel only nine months away, fans are anxiously looking for any hints about the direction of the film’s story and characters. While the J.J. Abrams wall of secrecy has remained largely impenetrable, some hints at what is planned may have been revealed in a recent interview with the writer of the Star Trek ongoing comics.


Michael Dorn Looking To Fans To Fund Romantic Comedy With Star Trek Actors

In May TrekMovie broke the news that Michael Dorn, Star Trek’s Worf, was planning to launch a production company and Kickstarter campaign to help fund a romantic comedy starring other Trek actors including his TNG co-star Marina Sirtis. Star Trek Phase II Re-Launches With New Vignette Featuring New Kirk + Refit Enterprise & more

Earlier in the summer the popular fan series Star Trek Phase II announced the recasting of their Captain Kirk. And tonight they released a new video vignette to re-launch the series which featuring Brian Gross’ Kirk along with their newly refit USS Enterprise. First Vignette From ‘Star Trek Continues’ Fan Series Picks Up Where TOS Left Off

Over the weekend at the Shore Leave convention in Baltimore, MD, the new fan series Star Trek: Continues debuted their first vignette. The new show featuring Vig Mignogna as James T. Kirk along with Chris Doohan as Scotty and Grant Imahara as Sulu, hopes to continue the five year mission following final episode from the third season. This first vignette shows how they are bridging the gap. Watch it below.        


Moonves Commits To Extend CBS/Netflix Streaming Deal + Says ‘Good To Have Star Trek’

Back when Star Trek: Enterprise was cancelled seven years ago there was much discussion and speculation that the franchise had lost support at the corporate level of CBS/Paramount, especially with CBS CEO Les Moonves. But now the man who runs the company that owns Star Trek is singing a different tune, telling investors that the franchise is working "exceedingly well" as part of the CBS portfolio for online streaming. CBS & QMx Making Groovy Retro Star Trek Posters For Every TOS Episode

Replica maker QMx is venturing into are of cool Star Trek prints and also moving into creating items for the original series, with their announcement of a series of prints themed around TOS episodes. They have announced a new series of episode posters for TOS, revealing the first four to be released. Eventually they will release posters for all the episodes. More details below.

TrekMovie is back from vacation and ready to head to Las Vegas this week for the big Star Trek con. This year’s even will be huge with four captains and tons of Star Trek luminaries headed to the biggest Trek event of the year. Science Supplemental: Mars Curiosity Lands Tonight at 10:31PM PST

Tonight at 10:31pm Pacific time, NASA will attempt to land the largest, most powerful, and most complicated instrument ever to set wheels on the surface of Mars. Curiosity (aka Mars Science Laboratory), which weighs about as much as a Mini Cooper and has the wheel base of a Hummer H2, will be on Mars tonight. Whether it lands safely or leaves a Hummer-sized crater remains to be seen.

Once again NASA looks to Star Trek to help tell their story. Today the space agency released two versions of a video about the Curiosity Rover (aka Mars Science Laboratory) which is scheduled to touch down on the surface of Mars next week. And to satisfy fans of different generations one version of the video is narrated by original Star Trek star William Shatner and the other has Next Generation’s Wil Wheaton. Video of the Day: Tom Hardy’s Star Trek: Nemesis Screen Test

For the second weekend in a row The Dark Knight Rises is the top movie at the box office. In just ten days the film has taken in over half a billion dollars worldwide. This film cements Tom Hardy, who plays the villain Bane, as an even bigger star. But, it was just 10 years ago that Hardy got his big break in Star Trek: Nemesis. A video of his screen test with Patrick Stewart has been going viral again this week. Check it out below.        


CBS Offering Free Replacement Blu-ray Discs To Fix Star Trek: TNG Surround Sound Problem

Since the release of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-ray last week there have been a number of fan complaints about audio issues related to the surround sound track on some of the episodes. Today CBS has officially acknowledged the issue and offered to provide replace discs free of charge. More info in the official statement from CBS below.

Earlier this week in our review of the Star Trek: The Next Generation theater events we also reported that TNG actor LeVar Burton surprised fans at the Times Square theater screening in New York. Video of Burton’s Q&A with the fans. Burton also tried to clarify that an image from the set that has gone viral is not him.




Bakula & Sirits Joke About Getting Into Next Star Trek Movie

Also showing up at the Saturn Awards was Star Trek alums Scott Bakula from Enterprise and Marina Sirtis from Next Generation. Both were asked about the new JJ Abrams Star Trek films and (of course) both said they would love to be part of the new feature films. Sirits also took issue with one element of the 2009 movie. On Saturday William Shatner’s new documentary "Get A Life!" premiers on Epix. For his latest doc, Bill dives deep into Star Trek fandom to find out why Trek fans do what they do and today we have an exclusive clip from the doc to show some of Bill’s research. We also have details on how XBox 360 owners will be able to see all 11 Star Trek movies via Epix this weekend too.      




Review: Star Trek: The Next Generation Theater Event + LeVar Burton Defends Wil Wheaton At NYC Event

Last night CBS and Fathom Entertainment held special one night only theater screenings of two episodes from the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. This celebration of the 25th anniversary of the show was also a way to promote today’s release of the first season of the show on Blu-ray.
