Star Trek Beyond Wraps Filming PLUS The Trek Movie Caption Contest!

With a tweet heard round the Alpha Quadrant, Simon Pegg today announced that principal photography for Star Trek Beyond had wrapped. He and co-writer Doug Jung are seen staring off into the Final Frontier. That’s a wrap on Star Trek Beyond! Writers, Doug Jung and Simon Pegg consider life after Trek. 🖖🏼 pic.twitter.com/ZH5flEmfEf — Pegg News (@simonpegg) October 15, 2015 But what are they saying? What are they thinking? Is it “Second star to the right, and straight on till morning”? Or is it “Let’s see what’s out there”? Or perhaps they’re staring at a fan cosplaying as the Goddess of Empathy. What do you think? Put your idea for the perfect caption for this photo in the comments below, and return back here every week for more news related to Star Trek Beyond, the 50th anniversary next year, and much more Trek-citement. Star Trek Beyond will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.

SPOILERS, SPOILERS, and more SPOILERS! Pics and Videos From Last Weekend’s Star Trek Beyond Dubai Shoot

SPOILERS Ho! Despite Paramount’s plea to the contrary, plenty of people have snapped pics and videos of the latest very public shoot for Star Trek Beyond, which took place over the weekend at Dubai’s Central Park Towers. Hit the jump for tons of SPOILERS in what is the biggest STB photo dump we’ve seen since the Xindi Skunk.

Video and Photos of Second Unit Shooting for Star Trek Beyond in Dubai

It’s official: filming has begun in Dubai for Star Trek Beyond, and there are some (rather unrevealing) photos of a helicopter shoot floating around the web. Don’t get too excited; this is reportedly a second unit shoot, meaning the actors wouldn’t have been present, and there are no interesting sets, costumes, or anything really to see. These photos and video are of so little substance, we can’t even see a reason to throw a spoiler tag on this one.

Star Trek Beyond Begins Next Phase of Filming With Press Conference in Dubai

As we edge ever closer to the picture wrap of Star Trek Beyond, still very little information has been released (officially or otherwise) about the film’s plot or even its characters. The cast and grew gathered for an official press conference today at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai. The event included director/producer Justin Lin, executive producer Jeffrey Chernov, writers Douglas Jung & Simon Pegg and actors Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and Idris Elba. Hit the jump for video of the event.

Editorial: With Lydia Wilson as latest addition to Star Trek Beyond cast, can we expect a strong female role or another Carol Marcus?

Lydia Wilson has just been announced as the latest addition to the growing call sheet for Star Trek Beyond, currently filming in Vancouver. As usual, no one has any clue as to what her role might be (although there is plenty of speculation abound). I am excited about the addition of another female presence on the screen, but I remain cautiously optimistic after our “strong female role model” Carol Marcus turned into a one-trick pony designed to catch Kirk’s (and the audience’s) romantic interest.

Star Trek Beyond Adds Joe Taslim To The Cast, Becomes Faster, More Furious

With less than a year until Star Trek Beyond beams, warps, or is hurtled by a powerful alien known as the Caretaker into theaters near you, news of the production is beginning to trickle in. The most recent news item is that actor/martial artist Joe Taslim is joining the cast. The actor was relatively unknown outside of his native Indonesia until he jump-kicked his way on to screens with 2013’s Fast & Furious 6, directed by Justin Lin, who is also helming Star Trek Beyond. The Hollywood Reporter broke the story over the weekend.

Director Justin Lin Confirms ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Title, Teases Starfleet Uniform Patch in Tweet

Justin Lin, director of Star Trek 3 took to Twitter today saying, “Let the next Starfleet voyage begin! #StarTrekBeyond #LLAP” confirming suspicions many had held since TrekMovie broke the news about the title back in April. Attached to the tweet is an image of what appears to be the shoulder of a Starfleet uniform featuring a familiar patch.
