Over the weekend Star Trek returned to British Columbia for an official Creation Star Trek convention in Vancouver, headlined by William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, along with a number of other Trek celebrities. We have a full con report and pictures of all the celebrity guests below.
The second of this summer’s three big Star Trek auctions happened Sunday. The Julien’s auction was different in that it had fewer actual props and costumes and was mostly the Gene and Majel Roddenberry estate sale, along with a number of items from William Shatner. Overall, the auctions was a success for collectors because of reasonable prices, including the few 2009 Star Trek movie items.

Tonight The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films held their 36th Annual Saturn Awards. The 2009 Star Trek movie went into the night with 6 nominations, but it was Avatar that dominated, picking up ten awards. Star Trek picked up one Saturn, as did including Leonard Nimoy (for Fringe). Star Trek writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman also picked up a special award.
For the last week Sir Patrick Stewart, Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Jean Luc Picard, has been attending the Edinburgh International Film Festival in Scotland as the chair of the Jury. And on Monday night Stewart was the subject of BAFTA Scotland Interview where he spoke about his career on stage and screen, including Star Trek. Full video of that event and more below.

Last weekend a number of Trek celebrities attended Wizard World’s Philadelphia Comic Con, including Next Generation stars Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner. And in video available online (below) you can see Spiner talking about (not) appearing in the new Star Trek movies and the death of Data, plus another video shows Spiner hilariously crash Stewart’s Q&A session.
Over the weekend the annual Pedalpalooza was held in Portland, Oregon. The four day festival celebrating cycling included a number of events and rides, including a "Star Trek vs Star Trek" ride on Saturday. Lots of fans of both showed up in costume and with bikes modified for space-flight. Check out photos below.

On June 25th & 26th, the town of Riverside IA will hold its 26th annual TrekFest. Part town fair and part Star Trek convention, this year Riverside (aka "the future birthplace of James T. As reported last week, on Sunday (June 6th) the 2009 Star Trek movie had its exclusive cable TV premiere on the EPIX channel. EPIX movies are also available in HD online, and you can try it out free for a week. In addition, this week TrekMovie and EPIX hare teaming up for a free online viewing party on Wednesday. Back in 2008 we reported on an exhibition in New York from artist Devorah Sperber called "Mirror Universe" with a collection of Star Trek themed art. It appears that much of this art was purchased by Microsoft, who have it displayed on their campus in Washington. See pictures and video of the display below.
