A month ago Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences TV Hall of Fame. Video from the gala event is now online, where you can see uber-Trek fan (and Family Guy creator) Seth MacFarlane giving a loving tribute to Roddenberry. Check out the video and photos below.




UPDATED: No Wins for Star Trek at WGA and MPSE Awards

[UPDATED] The 2009 Star Trek movie was up for honors at two different guild award shows being held tonight. First up was the WGA Awards, where Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman unfortunately failed to win for their Star Trek script. And it was the same story at the the MPSE Golden Reel Awards were Star Trek sound editors lost out in three categories. Full details below.






Weekend Trek Events: Warp 11 in SF, Trek Improv in Chicago, Farpoint Con in MD, Cosplay Record in London, Trek Murder Mystery in NH

This weekend there are some fun events for Star Trek fans all over the globe, from a Trek band playing in San Francisco, to the Farpoint Con in MD, to Trek improv comedy in Chicago to a huge Trek cosplay record attempt in London. Shatner & Stewart Talk JJ Abrams Star Trek + More From San Francisco Star Trek Con

Last weekend Creation held an official Star Trek Convention in San Francisco. The event was headlined by Patrick Stewart and William Shatner who delighted the crowd with talk of Shakespeare, the new Star Trek movie and even pantyhose. The con also featured Trek stars such as Gary Lockwood, Armin Shimerman, Max Grodenchik, Vaughan Armstrong, and even some Klingons Chancellors (J.G. Hertzler and Robert O’Reilly). Orci & Kurtzman at WGA: Talk Star Trek Canon, Spock/Uhura, Shatner, Sequel, TrekMovie Fans & more

As part of their series of screenings for WGA nominees, there was a showing of the 2009 Star Trek movie at the WGA theater in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night. Following the film there was a panel discussion and Q&A with the writers (and WGA nominees) Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The pair covered a lot of old ground, but also discussed some of the hot point topics on the first Star Trek, and they also talked about the sequel too. Star Trek The Exhibition Extends Stay In San Jose + See Video Reports Of Exhibit

The engagement of Star Trek: The Exhibition at the Tech Museum in San Jose is being extended. Originally it was going to wrap up this month, but now bay area fans have until April 11th to tour around the exhibit of props, costumes, and more from 43 years of Star Trek, including the new movie. Giacchino Wins Golden Globe For Up Score + Saldana Presents [PHOTOS]

The 67th annual Golden Globes Awards was held tonight in Los Angeles. The 2009 Star Trek movie was actually not up for any nominations, but Star Trek composer Michael Giacchino did win a Globe for his Up score. Also on hand was Star Trek’s Zoe Saldana who was one of the presenters and braved the rain for the red carpet. Photos below.



Star Trek: The Music Performing In Calgary Next Week

You have have seen the multi-city tour for Star Wars: In Concert, but there is actually a (smaller) Star Trek tour also going on. "Star Trek: The Music," hosted by Bob Picardo and John DeLancie, has been performed by a number of orchestras in North America since 2007. The next stop is next week in Calgary, Alberta. City of Boston Declares November 14th ‘Leonard Nimoy Day’?

The original Spock (aka ‘Spock Prime’), Leonard Nimoy is returning to his home town of Boston this weekend to attend The New England Fan Experience. And Boston is so proud of their native son, that they are declaring Saturday (November 14th) "Leonard Nimoy Day". We have the text of the proclamation below, plus some new comments from the actor.


Star Trek Wins Hollywood Movie Award

Last week we reported that you can vote for the new Star Trek movie for a couple of award shows. The nominations for People’s Choice Awards are still being voted on, but Star Trek did win the Hollywood Movie Award, just a week after picking up the the top Scream Award (which aired Tuesday night). CBS Announces New ‘Star Trek Live’ Theme Park Show – Exclusive Details

Star Trek is headed back to theme parks. Today CBS, along with the Mad Science Group, announced ‘Star Trek Live’ a new traveling interactive stage show which will be combining "science and entertainment" using Star Trek. Star Trek The Exhibition Opens In Los Angeles + Opening In San Jose This Friday

The two ‘engagements’ of Star Trek: The Exhibition have been traveling the country for the last year, and this month both of them have landed in California. The first opened in Hollywood last weekend, and on Friday the second opens in San Jose. Star Trek: The Exhibit Coming To Hollywood – Opens This Weekend

Star Trek: The Exhibition, the traveling exhibit of Star Trek memorabilia, is going Hollywood…literally. TrekMovie is first with the news that the engagement of the exhibit which wrapped up its stay at Franklin Institute in Philadelphia in August has moved to Los Angeles and opens up at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood on October 10th. REPORT: Star Trek Designers Talk Trek History At Art Directors Guild Event

Sunday night at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, the Art Director’s Guild held a special event honoring the design of Star Trek. On hand was a panel of distinguished designers, including Scott Chambliss and Herman Zimmerman, sharing their thoughts and memories with the capacity crowd. Spike Wants Star Trek Fans For Scream Awards – Offering Free Tickets For Costumed Trekkies

A few weeks ago we reported that the new Star Trek movie lead the nominations for this year’s Spike Scream Awards with a total of 17. The award show is taped on October 17th in Los Angeles and Spike is inviting TrekMovie readers to attend the event for free. The only catch is that they want serious Star Trek fans, in costume of course. Details below.


More Star Trek Memorabilia Up For Auction In October

In October, Profiles in History is holding the 37th Hollywood Auction, which includes a large number of rare pieces of Star Trek memorabilia, from original photos, props, costumes and more, ranging the entire span of Star Trek history. They are even auctioning off one of the first ever Apple Macintosh computers, which was a gift to Gene Roddenberry. 


Creation Cancel November L.A. Trek Con – Add New Cons In Chicago, Vancouver & San Francisco

Citing issues with securing appearances by cast members from the new Star Trek movie, Creation Entertainment announced today that they had to cancel the November Star Trek Grand Slam Convention in November. However, creation has also announced three new Star Trek conventions in 2010 for cities that haven’t seen cons in some time.
