In two weeks the EPIX Channel debuts the new Star Trek documentary, "William Shatner’s Get A Life!" The new doc features Bill finding out why we are all in love with Star Trek. A preview and a trailer for the doc have been released and you can check those out below.
San Diego Comic Con kicked off today and while there is no Paramount panel for the new Star Trek movie (or even a Paramount booth) there are a number of panels and events that could be of interest to Star Trek fans. Colbert and Stewart are Trekking again. Over the last couple of nights both of Comedy Central’s late night shows have thrown out Star Trek references. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart seems to have Wrath of Khan on their mind, while the Colbert Report sees the president as a Vulcan. Watch the clips below (if you live in the USA). Today brings good news for the female fans of Star Trek with the announcement of a new line of apparel just for women. Her Universe, who have been making "fangirl" clothes and accessories for fans of Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who, is launching a new line for Star Trek fans. Chris Pine’s new movie People Like Us opens up this weekend and the actor has been out doing lots of publicity. While promoting his new film he and director Alex Kurtzman also been talking some Trek, Pine saying the sequel has a better story and Kurtman talking about "bold moves." On July 23rd, just one day before the release of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-ray, theaters across the USA will be showing special screenings of two HD episodes of TNG along with bonus materials from the new set. In July, just in time for the 25th anniversary, the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation will be re-released, remastered in HD on Blu-ray. Alex Kurtzman’s new film People Like Us held its premiere at the LA Film Festival and he and star Chris Pine of course ended up talking more Star Trek at the event and associated junket. Star Trek’s most prolific screenwriter Brannon Braga is penning a Star Trek comic book. This afternoon IDW announced the upcoming series "Star Trek: The Next Generation – Hive," and as the name implies, it is all about the Borg. The series kicks off in September. In 1994 actor Malcolm McDowell had the dubious distinction of being the actor to play the man who killed Capt. James T. Kirk in the movie Star Trek: Generations. He has been getting an earful about that from Trekkies for the last two decades, but at a recent event he fought back saying that he did Trekkies a favor. He also had some choice things to say about his Generations co-star Sir Patrick Stewart and opined about JJ Abrams as well. Watch his Trek rant below.

First up Damon Lindelof says some things about the villain and Kirk and how they are different that the 2009 film. Simon Pegg hates spoilers, but in a new interview clip (which you can watch below) Star Trek’s new chief engineer does promise that the sequel will offer fans views if different parts of the USS Enterprise and more. There’s a few bits of Star Trek-related award news today. First up the original Star Trek series was nominated (again) for a Television Critics Association Award, as was William Shatner. And Bill won an award for his latest audio book, as did Wil Wheaton. And new Star Trek movie star Benedict Cumberbatch picked up another award nomination.
In honor of the release of his new novel "Redshirts" author John Scazli commissioned a special "Redshirts" song. And that song has been turned into a music video tribute to Star Trek’s honored crewman who laid down their lives so that the main cast can live on. Watch "Redshirts" the musical tribute below.

Star Trek co-writer/producer Damon Lindelof is doing the rounds of press to promote Prometheus, which comes out next week. In a new interview Lindelof talks about one of the advantages they had by shooting on larger stages for the sequel. He also talked about the Benedict "iconic" performance. Last month we reported that there will be a special theater screenings of Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes in HD on July 23rd (promoting the release of the Season 1 Blu-ray on July 24th). Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy just can’t seem to stay retired. Today it was announced the the actor is returning to the Kingdom Hearts game franchise to reprise his role of Master Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts 3D.

More specifically he is debunking (and denouncing) spoiler reports about Benedict Cumberbatch’s character in the Star Trek sequel. On Friday Star Trek’s William Shatner was the guest host for the BBC comedy show Have I Got News For You," which is a quiz show poking fun at the news of the week. With Shatner as host there were of course a few Star Trek references thrown in. Plus he sings a bit of "Rocket Man." The show is available to watch online, check it out below.
Fresh from his weekend appearances at Phoenix Comicon, Star Trek: The Next Generation’s LeVar Burton was involved in a non-injury traffic accident this morning, with the twist that his Lexus was rear-ended by a police car.
