Kevin Pollak and Maurice LaMarche Hold a “Shat Off” To Celebrate 2nd Talk Like William Shatner Day

March 22nd is William Shatner’s 79th Birthday, which means it is the 2nd annual "Talk Like William Shatner Day." This new holiday was declared last year by Shatner impressionist (and veteran voice actor) Maurice LaMarche. This year he has teamed up with comedian and fellow Shatner impressionist Kevin Pollak to celebrate with a "Shat Off" of dueling impersonations. Watch their video below.

Leonard Nimoy Talks Quinto Handoff, Oscar Snubs & More + Appearing This Weekend In Seattle

This weekend Leonard Nimoy will be appearing at the Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle. The original Spock has done a couple of interviews with the local Seattle media to promote the event, where he talked about handing off his role to Zachary Quinto, why he still goes to cons, and if he thinks Star Trek was ‘robbed’ at the Oscars. Time for another Trek birthday. Star Trek’s new Pavel Chekov, Anton Viktorovich Yelchin was born in Saint Petersburg Russia on March 11, 1989. That makes him 21 years-old today, so we would like to wish young Anton a happy birthday and have a drink on us (now that you are old enough to drink). Zoe Saldana Talks Sex & Race In Two New Magazine Cover Stories

Star Trek and Avatar star Zoe Saldana continues to climb the celebrity ranks. The actress is gracing the cover of two magazine’s April issues, and in one of the cover stories she lets us all know what she likes to do in her off hours (including the lights-off hours). And Saldana isn’t the only one making sexy news, there is a particular body part that is getting Chris Pine notice in another national magazine.

The 82nd Academy Awards have just wrapped up and JJ Abrams Star Trek, has made franchise history by taking home Trek’s first Oscar, for Best Makeup. In addition some Star Trek vets took home Oscars, including Michael Giacchino for Up. Also, Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana were on hand as presenters. This weekend isn’t all about the Oscars. Tonight the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation held their 30th Annual Razzie Awards, which honor the worst in films for the previous year. Amongst the ‘winners’ were Star Trek co-writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman for their Transformers Revenge of the Fallen screenplay. They were not able to attend but have sent TrekMovie their acceptance speech.

Chris Pine To Present At Academy Awards

On Sunday tens of millions watched the original Captain Kirk help close out the Winter Olympics, and next Sunday tens of millions will see the new Captain Kirk help hand out the Oscars. Today the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences updated its list of presenters for the Academy Awards, and Star Trek’s Chris Pine is on the list (along with a Trek movie cameo actor).


Giacchino & Star Trek Win Film Music Critic Awards

It looks like we have one more set of awards to announce before the Oscars coming up this weekend, and this time it is some good news. Today the International Film Music Critics Association announced the winners of their 2009 Awards and Star Trek’s Michael Giacchino was the big winner with awards for both Up and Star Trek. Avatar Dominates At VES Awards – Trek Vets Win For BSG

Sunday night was the prelim of award season leading up to next weekend’s Oscars. This time it was the Visual Effects Society where Star Trek was nominated for two awards. However, it came as no surprise that James Cameron’s Avatar dominated the evening, walking home with a big pile of awards, including one shared by Zoe Saldana. A couple of Trek vets also picked up awards for their work on BSG.
