List Of IMAX Theaters Showing 9-Minute Into Darkness Preview Available Now

It has already been announced that the first 9 minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness was going to be seen along with showings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey starting on December 14th. Today Paramount is providing a list of which IMAX will be showing this Trek preview. Not every theater with The Hobbit will have the preview. TrekMovie has some exclusive details below.

Exclusive: Russian Title “Star Trek: Vengeance” Confirmed As Tested Title For “Star Trek Into Darkness”

Over the summer TrekMovie reported that Paramount was testing multiple titles for JJ Abrams’ new Star Trek film. Obviously "Star Trek Into Darkness" was eventually chosen, but the new Russian Star Trek teaser poster had lead to a discovery that "Star Trek: Vengeance" was one of the other tested titles, and apparently the Russians (and only the Russians) decided to use it.



Exclusive: Into Darkness Teaser To Debut Online December 6th + Longer Trailer In Theaters Dec. 14th

We all know that the first nine minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness will be showing at IMAX screenings of The Hobbit on December 14th, but TrekMovie has learned that is not going to be the first reveal of footage from the new movie. Abrams To Promote ‘Into Darkness’ In Japan (& Beyond?) + Paramount Announces Int’l Release Dates

Once again director JJ Abrams is going global and taking footage on the road to help build buzz for his new movie. JJ will be in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday meeting with the press and showing off the preview of the Star Trek Into Darkness movie which will be shared with the public with IMAX screenings of The Hobbit, starting December 14th. Star Trek Into Darkness Poster Revealed

Still months away from its debut, and we’re learning more and more about Star Trek Into Darkness. Last week, Paramount released the official synopsis for the film, and now we have the first official teaser poster as well. Although we’ve been told that Into Darkness won’t be a rehash of The Dark Knight, the influence of the dark Batman franchise seems strong in the new poster. Hit the jump for more.



Pine: William Shatner’s Kirk More Iconic Than Ford/Baldwin/Affleck’s Ryan

Star Trek’s new Kirk Chris Pine is currently shooting on another big role for Jack Ryan. In a new interview promoting Rise of the Guardians, Pine discussed the differences in stepping into Jack Ryan’s shoes to Kirk’s space boots, noting how William Shatner is more iconic. Watch the video bellow.

Abrams Not Interested In Directing Star Wars VII – Planning New Original Project

Star Trek into Darkness will be in Dolby’s new Atmos sound format

Dolby Laboratories, Inc. and Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom Inc., today announced at ShowEast 2012 that J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production of Star Trek into Darkness will use the latest technical achievements in cinematic storytelling to deliver a new experience to audiences. Star Trek into Darkness is scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures on May 17, 2013.

Finally, we have our first look inside Star Trek Into Darkness. JJ came on the Conan O’Brien show yesterday and gave an excited, albeit extremely small, sneak peak at the new movie. Chris Pine on Trek 2: “We’re Not Making Batman” + First Look At Pine As Jack Ryan

As usual, the cast’s lips are sealed when it comes to details about the Star Trek sequel, but Chris Pine took a bit of time to talk about the mood of the new film saying, “we’re not making Batman. That’s not our deal.” Chris is referring of course to The Dark Knight‘s darker take on the Batman franchise and indicated that, although the stakes will be high and the action great in the new Trek, it wasn’t meant to be darker and will still have comedy. Cumberbatch Talks Trek, Is “Bored of Denying it’s Khan”

Benedict Cumberbatch, the new mystery villain in the upcoming Star Trek film, sat down with Shortlist to talk mostly about his role on Sherlock, but also spoke a bit about what it was like to play a villain in Trek.
