If you want to relive the Star Trek movie again and also get some more insights into the characters and events of the film, you can ‘listen’ to the movie via the audio book of the Alan Dean Foster adaptation. Today we have a clip from the audio book to sample it, and we are also giving away free copies, including one signed by the narrator, Zachary Quinto.
Starting in 2008 there have been two ‘engagements’ of Star Trek: The Exhibition, a touring museum exhibit of Star Trek set pieces, costumes and props and more. Now ST: TE has a new central website with info and where you can get notified when it comes to your town. Fixing an oversight from 1982, IDW will is finally adapting Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan as a comic book. The three issue series written by Adny Schmidt with art by Yang Ong Chee kicks off next week. IDW has provided us with five page preview for the book, check it out below
GoAnimate.com, the site that lets you make your own animations, today announced that it has expanded its roster of official Star Trek characters to include Nurse Chapel, Gorn, Mara, and two Klingon crewmen. To celebrate the five new characters, they have also launched a new animation contest for fans to create the best ‘backstory’. Details below.

The annual MTV Movie Awards was held tonight in LA, and even though the new Star Trek movie wont be eligible until next year, the film still made its presence known. Star Trek appeared in a couple of skits, Chris Pine presented an award, even JJ Abrams made a cameo (on keyboards!). Last September the original Sulu, George Takei wed his long-time partner Brad Altman (see TM story), but in November California voters amended the state’s constitution to ban same-sex marriage. Today the California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8, but also declared marriages completed before Prop 8 (like Takei’s) to be valid. Last week Paramount released a number of new Star Trek DVD and Blu-ray titles with the biggest being the Original Motion Picture Collection on Blu-Ray. It turns out that phone maker Nokia, one of Paramount’s Star Trek marketing partners who are already part of the Verizon Trek site, has their own Star Trek site (nokia.com/startrek) , which is themed around the Romulan Narada ship from the movie. Nothing really new at the site, but it does give you a good view of the interior of the Narada, details below. .

The new Star Trek movie is not getting a traditional adaptation video game, however Paramount has put together a fun $10 downloadable arcade space-shooter ‘inspired by Star Trek’ called Star Trek D-A-C. They have just released the game trailer which you can see below. The trailer includes some cool ship-on-ship action footage from the Star Trek movie.
This morning Paramount has released a new set of behind the scenese photos from the Star Trek movie, showing director JJ Abrams at work with his cast on various sets and locations. Some of this we have linked to before recently, but we now have high resolutions of all the new BTS photos, plus some that we haven’t seen before.

This evening the big USA gala premiere is happening at the Chinese theater in Hollywood, California. After a month of international premieres, this is is going to the the biggest with Star Trek director JJ Abrams joined by almost the entire cast and crew. Also on hand will be past Trek luminaries and many of LA’s top celebrities. TrekMovie is there and will be liveblogging (with photos), plus there are live webcams and a local TV station is broadcasting live from the red carpet. Details below.

The upcoming issue of Star Trek magazine will be the ‘Official Movie Guide’ for the Star Trek movie. This issue of the official Star Trek magazine will be like previous ‘souvenir movie magazines’ and should be a must for any collector.
